I'm not surprised but I have been pretty disgusted at the complaints and the outright lies some told, most, I suspect in the hope of getting an undeserved bonus from the government.
See: Cr Vithoulkas and the teary fabrication re her café on corner of George & King: it was already heading for demolition as the site was being rebuilt. Integrity, eh?
Reality is people are shortsighted and selfish and so often refuse to put up with short term discomfort for long term gain.
Those shops on George Street that were throwing themselves on the pyre of suffering will make a Very Nice Little Sum whether they continue or sell up.

I have a low opinion of many councillors but she is a standout for her blatant lying and attempt at snatching a bit from the public purse.

Is the Town Hall climate protest going to block the tracks and testing at 5.30pm today? -.---

Why meet at Clomo HQ, shes onboard. Wish they'd march on to the WD or something. Now that'd get some attention. Or at least William St to LNP HQ for something a little less daring.

A hundred or so Kurds protesting Turkey shut down testing a few weeks ago and they were walking next to the tracks.

Cops keeping the kids off the tracks whilst Im pushing them aside to get across george st.

Overheard one obese kid complain somebody pushed him hard. I said " I can see why" and pushed him outta my way.

None of them gave a fuk for us civilians trying to get home after a tiring day paying for their Centrelink or subsidising their Uni.

Standing there like stray cows on a Delhi road.

Surely protesters will be banned from gathering directly outside the town hall and being able to walk down George St after light rail starts this weekend.

Those little gardens they planted right at the end of the line at CQ look like being a mistake. They're filled with rubbish.

And this is an example of what I mean by poor design for people with imperfect vision.
Low contrast, night, a reflective sheen and my eyes simply cannot tell me if there is a step. It will be even worse with rain. They should have reflective yellow paint on all edges.
Note how there is essentially no contrast between the edge and the pavement below.

This is the stop near QVB.

And of course they can use yellow markers to tell cars where the lane is...

Except that its far more fun to be illogical/inconsistent..

I noticed that the eastern lane on George St south of Town Hall is still closed to traffic

Is the lane planned to be opened up again?

No. The same for a lane on Devonshire between Chalmers and Elizabeth.

"Across the entire day, the number of vehicles entering the CBD has fallen by an average of almost 8 per cent, compared with 2015.

The change to motorists' habits has led the council to propose keeping closed several traffic lanes, which were originally to be reopened when the light rail line was completed.

They include a southbound lane of George Street from Bathurst to Campbell streets; the intersection of George and Dalley streets; and an eastbound lane of Devonshire Street from Chalmers to Elizabeth streets in Surry Hills.

Their closure would expand the size of pedestrian-friendly sections of the inner city."

Confirms my observations about George Street.

Question is are they going to take the closed sections and pedestrian pave them?

I for one am excited about George St getting dug up again.

Today's panic report has this image with the section of Devonshire between Chalmers and Elizabeth coloured red. It's marked as a Transport for NSW document.
