Two new high-rise apartment blocks are being planned for Belconnen next to one of Canberra's acclaimed landmarks.

The plan is for two 27-storey towers on top of a four-storey podium to be built opposite the Cameron Offices.

Always good to see open air car parks getting developed. Hopefully it'll breathe more life in the town centre. What's that big blue development in the render?

It's interesting that Cameron Offices is seen as being of "great architectural significance" considering they demolished most of it a decade ago. There were originally nine wings that ran all the way from College Street to Cohen Street. It's a real shame they didn't keep all of it.

It's a ******* disgrace that they knocked those buildings down. Every architectural textbook in the world features them - they were considered the most significant building in Australia after the Opera house!

Agreed. I was working in Belconnen when they demolished 4 of the wings and it was tragic. It was also made far worse by the absolute cheap crap apartments they put up in their place
