If people had too live in a building like these sky high prisons they would not want too.

Not sure what you mean by "plain cheap glass." This is probably triple-glazed IGU with low-e coatings. If you mean that the curtain wall is flat, then yes, I believe you are right, it's flat.

I don't think it's possible to clad a skyscraper of that height in cheap glass.....the facades have to withstand tremendous stresses at that height from heat/cold/wind/rain as well as keep inhabitants warm in winter and cool in summer, they are highly precision systems and hugely expensive

You've seen the glass? There's protective film on it right now. What we are seeing in pictures is not what the glass will look like.

Tallmark's picture about 3 posts up seems to show a large section with most of the plastic removed.

I think he meant that a plain glass curtain wall *looks* cheap compared to other oligarch towers.

Indeed, many far less expensive per square foot rental buildings have exactly that. This may be higher quality material. But I agree that it does not look it.

I plan on waiting for the building and the finishes to be complete before judging how it looks.

Side note - I heard that Nordstrom remains on track to open this fall, so we should see the building top out before then.

ESB doesn't do lonely. Because it owns the skyline regardless.

Glass facades are a lot cheaper than masonry facades, particularly the all glass facades with no intervening metal sculpting. Look at the Steinway or the new building next door to this building and notice the pricy style vs cheap style

No my friend. The protective blue film has come off on the lower section of the building. I see the building almost everyday from outside my office. But you can see that in this picture as well, namely, the actual glass side and how it looks

Can you post some pictures? Would be interesting to see more from that vantage point these days.
