Before everyone starts panicking, it looks like a rebranding to me which is probably a good sign! There is a link on the new Twitter page to a website which isn't live yet:

Take a look at Temple Leeds (@TempleLeeds): https://twitter.com/TempleLeeds?s=09

CEG: Southbank | 40, 25 and 17 storeys | hybrid planning app 17/06455/FU

Edit - we all collectively panicked didn’t we. Promising news that we should hear some updates on the ‘actual’ Temple (Works) soon?

Zzzzzzz

Another 'nod to Leeds textile industry'. I wish developers would hire better branding agencies.

The font for 'temple' is awful and throws the whole thing off, the textile print looks crap as well, a knock off Harry Potter scarf.

Return to sender.

Most likely a rebrand that unifies their South Bank project to include Temple Works. Their website isn't set up properly yet, but there's a locked folder named "CGIs". Here's hoping there's something new!

Maybe it's time to rename this thread then.

"CEG: Southbank" was a rubbish name anyway.

The CEG scheme has always been called The Temple Quarter.

The website is now live, although it's just a sort of holding page for now. It says:

Quote:
Temple is a brand new district of the city centre, which has the dramatic Temple Mill at its heart.
Presumably the CEG masterplan has been amended/enlarged to cover a much greater area and include Temple Works/Mill?

The Linkedin page for this has updated with a bit more information, now suggesting that the total development could provide over 1.2 million sq.m of floorspace... the masterplan we’ve already seen (inc. the 40 storey tower) was only for 100,000sqm in comparison. This could be monumental.

I was starting to consider if the 50 storey tower might have been part of CEG's revised plans, but by your suggestion Ttebroc, whatever we get here is in addition to the 50 storey tower you mentioned?

Looking at the LinkedIn page, it also says 750 new homes, for the scale of the project that doesn't actually sound that many?

Surely they mean 1.2million sq ft of floorspace, which is ~111,000 sq m.

Think the wording got us all a little too excited, new wording on LinkedIn is "mixed-use development of up to 1.12m sq ft of offices, retail, leisure, hotel, health, education and community uses"

New hoardings are up - unfortunately one of the signs clearly states "Construction Begins 2020".

And Criterion Place is still due to start in 2007.

yeah the good thing about Criterion Place was it would have transformed and altered perceptions of Leeds without question forever. It wasn't like the area around it would have changed that much, those cute brick dutch buildings and the Malmaison etc. on Sovereign st. /Swinegate would sure have made for a grrr8 contrast.
With this, well it's always nice to see more dereliction in Hunslet. I wonder what was there before the car showroom?
