Bad days of Aurangabad railway station will soon be over

In a joint venture, the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Railways are going to take initiatives to improve the station and attract tourists to the city.
Sources close to the engineering section of the railway station said the new building of the station would soon be equipped with international facilities.

A VIP lobby, an air-conditioned dormitory and special arrangements for physically challenged persons are some of the initiatives to be taken. Moreover, a separate cloak room for every tourist, international-level lounge, pay-and-use toilet, separate rest rooms as well as ticket booking for tourists, amusement park and malls have also been planned

Ministry of Railway had selected a total of 24 railway stations for improving passenger amenities in association with the Ministry of Tourism on a 50-50 cost-sharing basis.

Efforts on for Safari Park, land reserved

Anil Dange Rafique Aziz
Aurangabad, March 30

Safari Park — the proposed project of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Mitmita where the Siddharth Garden zoo is to be shifted — is likely to gain momentum as the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has been requested to provide financial assistance of Rs 50 crore for it.

As the Siddharth Garden zoo has limited space, it cannot accommodate wild animals as per their density. This is the reason why the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) had recommended that the zoo be shifted to a sprawling place. And since then, the civic body has been pursuing for 100 acres of land at Mitmita for Safari Park. The district collectorate and divisional commissionerate had forwarded the proposal to the State Government and have been awaiting approval.

Moreover, the mega zoo will help in attracting more than 15 lakh visitors and tourists as Mitmita falls in the centre of Aurangabad-Ellora route which witnesses heavy rush of tourists, daily. Besides, tourists inclination towards wildlife tourism has increased a lot in the past five years. Safari Park will be a perfect leisure destination to refresh and enjoy a break along with family and friends, he adds.
City development plan
The city development plan published by the State Government in the gazette dated February 4 mentions reservation of gut number 307 at Mitmita for Safari Park.
