Longest tunnel at Chalisgaon

7-km tunnel will have rail track and road, both. Mammoth work to cost Rs. 1700 cr

The longest tunnel in the state will be constructed at the Outram Ghat in Chalisgaon. Train and other vehicles will pass through this tunnel simultaneously.
The contract of preparing the design of this tunnel has been given to Amburg Engineering Company of Switzerland. As per the contract, the company will have to prepare the design within six months and later hand it over to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
This tunnel will be the important part on Aurangabad-Dhule 452 kms national highway. The 7-km long tunnel will be the major challenge for the NHAI.

Both road and rail routes will be planned through this tunnel and this will help connect Marathwada to rail route to Delhi and Kolkata. The passengers need not go to Manmad, around 150 kms away from Aurangabad.

The company will have to prepare the design of tunnel, bridge and road extending to around 14 kms within six months. After receiving the report from the company, it will be sent to Union Government for permission. Actual work of the tunnel will start after six months. Japan Government has provided Rs 1400 crore to Indian government for this work, while the estimated cost of the tunnel work is around Rs 1700 crores.

Marathwada Auto Cluster :” Center of Excellence”.

This building is a common learning and exhibition center for industrialists in Aurangabad. It has two huge exhibition halls which can also be used for playing badminton in leisure time. It has an 250 capacity multipurpose hall, cafeteria, training and research centers, class rooms, library, electronic and computer labs.

The special feature of this structure is it has been designed taking into consideration wind flow and sun path. Landscape becomes integral part of this building and flows through the structure. interesting Sky bridges and passages look into the central open spill over space having designed water bodies which is underneath the raised multipurpose hall. The construction is composite. Half building is in RCC and half is designed as Pre-Engineered Building with walls in infill technology.

Ample of landscape makes this an oasis space in hot and arid climate of Waluj MIDC. The building will be an unique synthesis of traditional ethos and modern technology.

JNPT hires consultant to make Jalna dry port project report

SANJAY BANERJEE | TNN | Dec 27, 2015, 12.56 AM IST

JNPT has appointed a consultant, Ernst and Young, to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the dry port project.

The port authorities have acquired 185 hectares of land at a cost of around Rs 88 crore in Jalna, Aurangabad district. Union road, transport and shipping minister, Nitin Gadkari flagged off the port project on Friday.

The DPR is expected to be ready in three months' time and the project will be executed under public-private partnership (PPP) model, wherein a strategic partner will invest and also recover the cost.

JNPT deputy chairman, Neeraj Bansal said, "The scope for value addition to agriculture products (see box) as well as the steel industry in the region will be huge. There will be other benefits too, as JNPT will facilitate transportation, hassle-free trade and ensure future competitiveness of the port.''

A dry port is situated in the hinterland to service an industrial/commercial region connected with one or several ports by rail or road transport. They offer specialized services between the dry port and several overseas destinations.

The dry port at Jalna will benefit Marathwada, a region hit by droughts, said sources. Value addition will enable more industry and jobs in the crops and food processing industry.

Ring road can be built instead of a bypass road. Roads to Pune/ Ahmednagar, Dhule/Jalgaon, Beed and Jalna can be connected to ring road.
