DPR on Jalna Road almost ready

Aurangabad, July 18 Lokmat Times

The city's lifeline to turn into 10-lane road with three subways, four flyovers and five pedestrian bridges

The city's lifeline - Jalna Road - extended from Cambridge School to Nagar Naka will soon get a major facelift as the detailed project report (DPR) is on the verge of finalisation.

Under the 400-crore project, Jalna road will turn into 10-lane road along with three subways, four flyovers and five pedestrian bridges, said project director of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) U J Chamargore adding that the Beed Bypass DPR is estimated at Rs 350 crore. Both the roads will turn into super ways.

Chamargore said, "The four flyovers will come up at Nagar Naka, Satish Petrol Pump, Akashwani and Cambridge School. The three subways will be in front of Amarpreet Chowk, Dhoot Hospital and Chikalthana Airport. There will be five footbridges on the 10-lane road. We have completed the process of marking properties to be acquired for the purpose."

Measurement of road completed
Jalna Road passes through Cantonment Area. Hence, the responsibility of land acquisition will be solely with municipal corporation. The measurement of road has been completed a fortnight ago. Besides, NHAI also prepared a list of encroachment and properties to be acquired.

Jalna Road is owned by Union Government
The city's busiest route Jalna Road is owned by the Union Government. As a result, after completion of development work, the union government will issue a circular and then the road will be handed over to the State Government. Later on, the state will hand over the responsibility of maintaining it either to a local-self government or any agency.

Locations of flyovers
The flyover at Nagar Naka is proposed as the vehicles coming from Waluj and Nashik enter the city through this point which frequently witnesses traffic congestion.

NHAI has plans to develop flyover 'double T-junction' at Satish Petrol Pump so that the vehicles from Osmanpura, Samarthnagar, Aurangpura and old city could proceed towards Beed Bypass from Railway Station.

The flyover at Akashwani will be a boon for the traffic heading to Trimurti Chowk, Jawahar Colony, Garkheda, Pundaliknagar, Gajanan Maharaj Mandir, Kailasnagar, Maheshnagar, Surananagar etc. They could reach safely and without any obstruction of traffic signals.

Jalna road to be Metro Rail ready. Beed Bypass to turn into super way.
As the plan is of a 10-lane road, NHAI will be constructing pillars for metro rail along with the road work. If metro is proposed in future from Nagar Naka to Cambridge School then there will be no inconvenience in developing infrastructure as it will be ready for it.
There will be priority to public transport on Jalna Road including school buses. Hence two lanes will be reserved for them. The traffic management will help reduce the pollution and protect the environment.
Flyover at Mukundwadi cancelled
The Mukundwadi flyover has been cancelled as the present flyover bridge at Cidco is close to the site. Instead, NHAI proposed construction of subway in front of Chikalthana Airport.
Beed Bypass to turn into super way
There will be an overbridge at Mukundwadi Railway Station. The road will be extended till Beed Bypass. Three flyovers have been proposed which will be at MIT College, Shivajinagar, and Sangramnagar. There will be six lanes road upon these flyovers. Beed Bypass will also have Service Road and four foot over bridges.
To provide safety of walkers during the night, the office has proposed construction of small shops at the subways.
NHAI is also thinking of streamlining traffic passing through Mahanubhav Ashram Chowk. It is learnt that a subway will be constructed at Beed Bypass and the road of Mukundwadi Railway Station bridge will be extended till Beed Bypass and it will be made 30-metre wide with a big junction on this route.
The development plan of the road has been prepared by the Cidco and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administration.
