They say it's feasible...

Mumbai-Pune in 1 hr, Mumbai-Nagpur in 3 hrs

Tags: Mumbai-Pune bullet train project

MUMBAI: If plans fall straight, travelling between Mumbai and Pune will be as fast as traveling between Borivali and Churchgate. The pre-feasibility report on the high-speed train project, initiated by the state government, states that the distance between Mumbai and Pune can be covered within an hour, however, the fares would be higher.

Former State finance minister Jayant Patil, who has first-hand experience of bullet trains in Germany, had mooted the proposal of high-speed trains between Mumbai and Nagpur via Pune before the state Cabinet. The proposal was later approved by the state cabinet and a feasibility study was initiated.

The project proposed that Mumbai to Nagpur, a distance of 900 km could be covered in three hours at a speed of 300 km per hour. It also stated that the distance between Mumbai and Pune, from where the train would head towards Nagpur, would be covered in one hour.

“Even though the project is viable, it is finally upto the commuters whether they would be ready to pay high price for the service. If that aspect is not feasible then the entire project might have to be scraped,” the official noted.

Maharashtra government to increase FSI in Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad hotels

Maharashtra government to increase FSI in Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad hotels

The Maharashtra government plans to increase luxury hotel's Floor Space Index (FSI) in three cities viz Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad. The FSI for star hotels in these cities will be raised to 3.5. As a result, hotels will be at par with the new FSI allowed for hotels in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai. The FSI was raised in South Mumbai to five, four and three for five-star, four-star and three-star hotels, respectively. In Nagpur and Aurangabad, there is excess land, so an increase in FSI is not really required. Pune, like Mumbai, will benefit from the increased FSI as the projects will be more viable.

Solar project to come up at Chandrapur

NAGPUR: Moser Baer India, with business interest in optical storage media, is developing a 1 MW solar power project in Chandrapur district. When completed, it will be one of the largest solar projects in the world using the latest thin film technology, the company said. Thin films improve the efficiency with which solar cells convert sunlight into electricity.

The company won the contract from Mahagenco, a Maharashtra government-owned power utility, on the basis of a global tender that attracted 20 bids. The project will be commissioned in consortium with SunEnergy GmBh of Germany, the company said in a statement.

"The agreement terms include commissioning of the project by January 2010 and maintenance of the project thereafter," the firm's spokesman said. This project, I am sure, will herald the widespread deployment of such solar farms in the country," said Moser Baer executive director Ratul Puri.

Who are you to tell him that? You do the same thing. Post the same stuff in all different threads, right mer101? Remember the cross postings you do? You quote IU's, Jai's, and SC's work and post the same stuff in different threads in the Mumbai Sub forum and flood them, right?

^wth dude? Your always after what I do. I'm not posting the samething in every thread. The only reason why I would post the same pic in two thread is because it would have more than one project in the picture! If you have a problem with me helping out in this forum like cross posting and posting updates why don't you ever do it.

I wouldn't blame you for any reason if you wouldn't post the same picture in the Mumbai Subforums in many threads.

Nashik: Indiabulls Group, a diversified entity, will develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Sinnar near here in association with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

The SEZ, to be located in the industrial corridor of Nashik, Sinnar and Igatpuri, will come up on 2,500 acres of land, Kishore Gajabhiye of Indiabulls who is heading the project told reporters here last evening.

Indiabulls is a leading player in financial sector, real estate and energy services.

The multi-product enclave will have units related to auto components, medicine production, food, engineering, information and technology among others. It will also house an international trading centre, hotels, schools, entertainment park and hospital, he said.

He, however, did not give the estimated investment or time-frame of the project. This will be Indiabulls' third SEZ after Mumbai and Pune.

The Group's proposed 1,335 MW Thermal Power Project at
Sinnar was likely to see investments of Rs 25,000 crore and
create thousands of jobs, Gajabhiye said.

Of the total power generation, 950 mw will be given to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, he said.

From the World Architecture News-

Planet 3 Studios Architecture Pvt. Ltd. designs a hotel with a clever twist

Mumbai firm Planet 3 Studios Architecture Pvt. Ltd. has won an invited competition for the design of the new Panoramic Hotel at Karnala in Mumbai, India. (Karnala is actually some 60 kms outside of Mumbai) Their dramatic, spiraling design won approval on its ability to maximise views into the lush green surroundings that form a local bird sanctuary.

While local building codes restricted the structure to ground plus one floor, the client requirement of an iconic property that combined the best of a dispersed format resort and a monolithic hotel provided the point of inspiration for this remarkable design.

Radiating from a central core with restaurants, spa, health club, café, a large pool and suites on the upper level, five arms extend into the landscape with out-facing rooms on two floors. Balconies connected with each room have privacy and a unique view of the outdoors. The building skin is engineered in horizontal louvers to moderate harsh tropical sun. At night, some of these louvers will light up in subtle colours, suggesting magical lanterns that float in air.
