Pebble Mill | Plot 4 | Medical | Appr.

We’ve had he app for this somewhere, calthorpe have requested expansion to 97,000 sq ft now

I may be reading too much into the below but my guess is we may be getting a Rutherford cancer centre with proton beam therapy as part of the final phase, it also states they are looking to expand the dental hospital too!?

The dental hospital needs space for its patients who are having a general anaesthetic for surgery. They are currently having to do this in the temporary cabins that were installed.

We have a Full Planning application for this now.

A multi-tenanted healthcare facility (oral theatre suite & cancer treatment centre).

The app also includes a Plot 7 (Eastern Road) ...which is a current car park, and that will be expanded and used for staff - 400 metres away from Plot 4

Quote:
Application Number: 2019/02618/PA
Application Type: Full Planning
Site Address: Plots 4 and 7 Former Pebble Mill Site Mill Pool Way Edgbaston Birmingham B5 7SL

Proposal: The construction of a new medical facility of up to 10,600m2 for use as part Use Class B1b (research and development) and/or part Use Class C2 (hospital) and/or part Use Class D1 (non-residential institution) with ancillary works, landscaping, new access from Mill Pool Way and on and off plot car parking with widened vehicular access from A38 Bristol Road

With this newly built medical community there must be urgent call for planning the metro extension down the Pershore road surely?

Agree, with a line earmarked through Smithfield, that could lead straight down Sherlock Street and onto Pershore Road, virtually a straight run too.

it's got to be at least in planning at this stage? also with the density flat being built at Edgbaston Cricket ground there must be something happening...

Route: Smithfield - Edgbaston Cricket Ground + the MAC - Pebble Mill - Not sure where it would go to from there though.

Also as a former KES boy I can say that a lot of kids there take the train home from University station, a tram line passing down the Pershore/Bristol Road would alleviate some congestion at the station let's say a conservative estimate of 150ish a day, twice a day for 7 months of the year taking in the tram works out at about 42,000 ridership right from the off.

From pebble mill I’d assume QE and UoB would be targeted then towards Selly Oak northfield longbridge rubery great park

Be good to see it onwards to seven capital stirchley development to kings heath then maypole how ever works best

Huge park and ride by maypole sainsburys.....

Would it be able to go to QE and UoB and then to Stirchley? it would surely to go that way have to travel towards Northfield and Longbridge?

Including suggestions I've seen on Twitter the route so far is:

Meriden Street - Smithfield Square - Hurst Street - St Lukes - Calthorpe Park - Edgbaston Cricket Ground + the MAC - Pebble Mill (for Bham Wildlife Park) - Holders Lane Playing Fields - Dogpool Lane - Cartland Road - Stirchley High Street - Elm Tree Road - Breedon Cross Bridge - Kings Norton Interchnage - Kings Norton Business Park - Kings Norton...

Had a bit of time so mocked one up:

I see longbridge and northfield needing a metro line less of a priority with the cross city line
