...and after that last picture by camera lens decided to jam! I've now booked it to go and be repaired (for quite a large amount of money) and it looks like it won't be ready for another few days yet so no pictures until at least the end of the week or perhaps this time next week unfortunately.

Thanks for the comment mate. Glad you think so, there are of course the not so glamorous sides to city as you may have picked out from some of these more recent pics.

Hi there. Thanks for the comment, glad you like my photos of Bristol. I'm not sure hat you mean by the Bristol sports car but it is home to the Rolls Royce if that's what you mean.

BRISTOL - PAST AND PRESENT

Here is an update showing some archive photographs of Bristol which I have actually been able to download as most of the ones I have found have been copyright protected.

Starting with a 1860s map of Bristol:

And now for the photographs:

Bristol preserves a lot of its olf flavour. That´s good. Nice pictures again, Mike. Thanks.

Looks like a wonderful city! Do many people use the steps with the water cascading down them?

Thanks mate, glad you like the pics. I agree, Bristol has managed to keep a lot of its past though I would have liked to see a lot of the places that no longer exist thanks to the war.

Hi there, thanks very much. Those steps are used quite a lot actually, much more so at weekends. They are popular in warm or hot weather. There's only one person in it in that picture because of it being a Monday.

I really like the cityscapes in post #22, with the first two pictures being an exception.

Hey there again. Short of taking photographs of people in the fountain steps, I can't really say. I see more people running around enjoying themselves rather than sitting down in it. No matter how warm or cold the weather is, the water is always freezing so probably just refreshing to paddle around in.

Hi there and welcome. Thanks very much for the compliment, do you mean the buses? If you do then sure, I can understand that. I just like to show people on the forum Bristol's public transport. But to be honest the shielding behind the Park and Ride bus is kinda ugly I agree - I just look forward to when it's taken away to reveal the excellent building plans behind.

Hi there, SYDNEY - welcome to the West Country's capital! Thanks very much, the weather hasn't been bad at all this last month though this last week between last Saturday and Wednesday night we've had over 100mm of rain so i've measured. Glad to hear your friend is liking Bristol, whereabouts is she living? - suburbs, inner city, waterfront etc. Btw, how was Melbourne, you took some excellent photos!
