Everything's fine, but most of the pictures seem to have colour accelerated. They look overcoloured and artificial for me. I know what i'm saying, because i was living in Bristol for couple of years. But some of the shots are good and not trivial, so i like it.
Bristol Mike, mate, don't give boost to the colour, please!

Thanks very much for the compliment. Ye, the weather had been surprisingly nice up to the time when I went on holiday on Tuesday 8th, it was all downhill from there but fortunately summer returned again the day before I came home! I type this on a warm humid day where the temperature is 25C.
I am pleased to hear that the weather has been holding up Here is a different story, I have never seen so many grey days in my life That could be why I am feeling so grey - no wait, that isn't the reason - I am missing Melbourne waaaay too much. Thanks for the squirrel pics, I love them so much. I also love this pic ...
Hi. I sure am glad we're getting some proper summer at long last, having said that today was rather dull considering the temperature. It'll be our turn for greyness and rain come November, perhaps even some hail, thunder and snow for good measure No problem about the squirrels, I found their liking for French fries, strange eating habit but then they are strange little things. I will sure get some more soon!

That is also one of my favourite Bristol scenes, the Exchange on Corn Street.

Hi there. Thanks for the comment, glad you like the piccies. Regarding the colour of the pics though, that's nearly all my camera's work and I'm being honest there. I do sometimes have to tweak the ones I take out of car or bus windows or on particularly dark days but apart from that, I like to try and keep my pictures as originals.

Btw, when were you last in Bristol?

I left Bristol in March 2008, but up to now i know all the places you did shoot. I can see mainly the city centre. What about pretty districts like Redland, Clifton, St. Michael Hill, Totterdowwn, etc.? I always admire panoramic wiews and city landscapes easy to see from the surrounding hills - even from Knowle. Because of the hills this city has lots of faces - i love it and won't forget it.
A little gift for you: look here - As you probably know it's Exeter where i used to live as well.

Oh I see, brings back memories does it? I will be sure to get some of those places up soon but none of them have been on route to where I've been going but I'll go to those places soon. I often park near St. Michael's Hill to get into the BRI.

Thanks for the link, that's a lovely piccie of the quay in Exeter, I enjoyed my visit there - lovely city.

Bristol Mike,
What a great job you're doing, showing us pictures of Bristol every day!
It took me a while to see all of them in one go (that'll teach me to check daily for updates!) but it was totally worth it!
I visited Bristol years ago, so thanks for refreshing my memories of this lovely city.
As for your avatar: Rain + cold = England - I thought the same ... until I moved to The Netherlands!!
Cheers!

Hello. Thank you very much, I do try and get as many days in as possible. It's so much easier when I have all this time off in summer - glad you like the pictures. It's nice to be able to bring back memories of places isn't it.

Ironically, the weather in the second half of July has been anything but cold and wet here but time will tell. My parents were in Amsterdam in late March and it was snowing! Take care.

Let's hope August brings a lot of sunshine on both sides of the Channel! Photos look so much better that way, don't they?
Cheers!

SATURDAY 2ND AUGUST

25C / 77F

Yatton, North Somerset

As well as showing areas of Bristol city itself, I think it's good to see outside places as well. These places outside the city will be posted intermittently, most likely between updates showing parts of the city. So I started with Yatton, which is twelve miles south of Bristol. It has a population of 11,546 so could be classed as a town rather than a village. It sits on a B road running between the village of Congresbury on the A370 and Clevedon on the coast. Its train station sits on the main line running from Bristol Temple Meads to Exeter St. David's.

Taken by me between 10:30am and 11:30am this morning.

The Train Station

New House Construction on the Main Road

A Willow on the Corner of Barberry Farm Road

Period Houses are Found All Over Yatton

A Victorian House on the Main Road

The Old Chapel

The 350 Bus Service Entering The High Street

The Precinct:

An Old Derelict House

Cottages on Church Road

The Cadbury House Driveway

Flowery Fields off the Main Road

The Yatton War Memorial

One of Three Bus Stops

Stone Houses

Yatton Church Looking Over the Playing Fields

The Village Butcher & Carvery

A Visit from the Window Cleaner

The Butcher's Arms

What Was Once Derelict is Now Renovated

The 'Haunted House' of Yatton

Another Georgian House

One of Many Terraces

Suburban Scenes:

That's all from Yatton for now.

No probelm, it's a pleasure taking and showing them. I do hope the sun shines like it is now for at least a bit longer, as you say pictures look so much better with sunshine.

Nice one, that's one of my favourite recreational places in the city after the Clifton Downs and Berkley Square. It is quite a view, an excellent place to watch storms coming in and clearing from the southwest.
