Still think the Broad St frontage should have been filled in with the lower floors giving a nod to the extg eaterie next door and then the sleeker stuff going on further up. Then the entire block frontage could have been taken back to the shell only with the lobby area set inside glass inside the brickwork a la Fort Dunlop. It nestles clumsily at the moment.

View of the Big Bite takeaway, seen from the car park off Tennant Street.

Left Bank will / may get built behind it.

Seems to be a new Balti Restaurant on the right.

We could see demolition on the Natwest Tower site. Construction seems unlikely before the end of the year though.

Wasn't aware it had even gone to tender yet! is it logical to award a contract before planning permission as been granted...in case of amendments/changes?
Hope its the case though. The envisaged timeline for this as I remember from the consultation was site preparation starting May and on site construction starting in August

Masshouse needs individual planning apps for plots yet, they seem to have switched back from office led to residential led, the lighthouse scheme may go up but nothing else this year in my eyes, I can see the developer sitting on the site until hs2 is nearer and selling up

Beorma I believe the tower is the final phase so still another phase to go first, unless of course they get a pre let for the office tower it's a case of wait and see on that one, personally I think it won't go up until next year at the very earliest

Happens quite regularly, the contractor will need to work with the developer get a lot of paperwork sorted, agree final decisions, get materials sources etc. there's a lot of planning behind the scenes which is often forgot about

NIA had a contractor signed up before they pulled out after disagreements which led to a redesign

This is why a lot ofbmajor projects will have contractors signed up beforehand, leaves time for issues to be ironed out/ get another contractor if required, they just want everything in place ready for planning permission to be the final make of the deal

With a decision due next week it'll be a case of announcing contractor and permission I presume

We're being shown two artist impressions or options of the frontage onto Broad Street, one with the space next to the Balti restaurant left bare, the other as above, with another hotel entrance and roof top bar. This was certainly the one shown in the model at the public consultation. I just wonder which was submitted into planning?
With a bar and restaurant included in the scheme, it would seem logical to have a high profile entrance onto Broad Street.
Hope this is the one we get!

from memory it's that one as I remember wondering why there is a dent inbetween this and big bite rather than having both butt up to each other

Think it was a fire escape or plant room set back

This will give a bit of extra height to Broad Street.
