Unlike those other retailers Nordstrom is actually growing and is doing actually pretty decent according to stock reports.

I’m not questioning Nordstrom’s acumen, I’m questioning Northgate’s ability to keep them.

Cool! (Literally). I'm going to buy some skates and go back to my Montreal childhood.

So the DJC has an article on further details of the Northgate redevelopment. According to the plans, all three department stores are gone, but the sea of parking around the Link station remains. I hope that gets filled in.

I took a spin through the HUGE EDG #2 packet yesterday evening and it looks like they're designing everything to be oriented inward, funneling people from the station into/through the site towards the corner of Northgate & 5th. It doesn't look like there is much attention being paid to 1st or 5th, which is disappointing. I understand that they had to keep the deliveries, trash, etc., somewhere so I can see why most of the west side of the site is under-utilized in their design, given the giant dead zone west of 1st.

More than anything, this whole Northgate redo makes me wish the light rail station was on 5th near the Northgate library branch. Alas...

NHL practice facility is much more centered than they were originally describing. Also looks like it is not displacing any housing. The apartment building that was planned for where the rinks are going has just been shifted to 5th ave.

The "Sea of parking around the station" unfortunately is (or will be) all built up parking garages. Probably not going anywhere for a while.

Northgate Link station/Mall to North Seattle College bridge made the LUIB today. 9600 COLLEGE WAY N in the EDMS includes this set of MUP plans: page 5 of pdf is decent overall view: http://web6.seattle.gov/dpd/edms/Get...spx?id=4047494

Is it accurate to say that the bridge will connect to the station mezzanine? Looks like it might but hard to tell for sure. 90% design of station: https://www.soundtransit.org/sites/d...nal%280%29.pdf

The parking garage for the station opens Monday! 450 stalls will surely help.

Northgate redevelopment advances. 986 units of residential development received design approval.

This will be the first example that I’m aware of residential surrounding a central parking structure. This seems much more common in the Southwest.

Will those parking garages be built tower-ready for later construction?

No...it would be absurd to spend many additional millions for a hypothetical. Even if goes highrise, how high?

Wasted opportunity. I wish they’d looked to Vancouver for inspiration instead of LA.
