Still now news, eh? I'm guessing we won't see any columns erected until December at the earliest....

In a completely related topic, I know this is getting WAY WAY ahead but I'm guessing this is approximately where the first station of the Western extension will be, correct?

If only our urban rail lines have been expanded years ago, probably jeepneys and pedicabs will be things of the past.

I'm assuming the answer to my question is yes....

Lets not forget that the ONLY reasons why we don't see an LRT2 station today where those jeepneys are parked are because of PNoy and Mar Roxas! Remember this come election time....

Oh my, I never knew that besides the East extension, they'll be working on the West extension too. #Hallelujah

Slurry silos are being assembled in the center island just near the DMCI compound in Marcos Highway. Generator sets can be found alongside.

I saw some newly put up barriers on the WB side of Marcos highway from the current end of the LRT rail to the next u-turn slot EB. Could it be the beginning?

Edit: The small excavation in front of Robinsons MetroEast is gone. Traffic was smooth.

They are fixing the test pit holes. Those became sinkholes 3 weeks ago.

Foundation works would start first near DMCI's yard along Marcos Higway. They are currently assembling the silos for the slurry.

DENR just approved the permit to earth ball and tree cutting. A permit printed in a tarp is posted in the center island near the end pier of LRT2.
Earthballing and tree cutting are undergoing this time.

Abaya’s Liberal Party-mate bags P4.25-B MRT-3 rehab as parties notice rigging

GOTCHA By Jarius Bondoc (The Philippine Star) | Updated October 30, 2015 - 12:00am

Secret talks for a three-year rehab of the MRT-3 commuter rail ended yesterday, with Transport Sec. Joseph Abaya’s preferred company bagging it.

That company is represented by a fundraiser of the Liberal Party, of which Abaya is acting president.

The company led by Korea’s Busan Transport Corp. with four Filipinos as joint venture partners, had bid P3.8 billion to:

• maintain for three years the MRT-3 trains, tracks, power supply, signaling system, and stations;

• overhaul 43 light rail vehicles (coaches);

• totally replace the signaling; and

• render other maintenance works.

The Abaya’s Agency Budget for Contract was P4.25 billion.

The anomalous contract, done in absolute secrecy instead of public bidding and on contrived emergency, is set to be awarded next week.

Is this what you are talking about?

Now ang East Extension Project ay GOP (Phils. Gov't. funds) ang Civil work (stations and viaducts) while ODA for Electro Mech. so GOP opted to use AASHTO III girders kasi mas mura sya and definitely it will also serve its purpose.

For the advantage ng box girders over AASHTO III.
  • Aesthetics (mas clean tingnan)
  • Environment friendly (kasi it does not trap the pollutants from the jeepneys underneath the structure
  • Less weight (so less foundation)
  • Easy assembly/construction
  • More wind resistance
Disadvantage
  • MAHAL (it would not be feasible kung 4km extension lang ang gagawin mo. Cost-Benefit analysis).
Mas marami pa din advantage ang Box girder kaysa sa ordinary I-Type Girder. Kung makikita mo yung picture sa itaas, naging manipis na din yung pier sa extension, compared sa mataba na pier sa original line.

This is more appropriate at the existing Metro Manila Mass Rapid Transit Thread.
