they've amassed some impressive dirt piles

if not for the machinery one site, you'd expect the project to be dead.

apparently they're working on the infrastructure. That makes sense.

Year End Review: Multifamily mania and a healthy office market

Quote:

In Sleepy Hollow, SunCal is moving earth on the former General Motors site on the Hudson River. The last minivan rolled off the GM assembly line in 1996 and it has taken more than 20 years to get to this point of development. It will take another eight to 10 years to fully build-out the 67-acre site. At full build-out, there will be almost 1,200 housing units, plus a boutique hotel, retail and a small amount of office space. River views on one side and easy access to the Metro-North Hudson Line is a compelling combination for buyers and renters. Unlike the Central Business District projects, I can see an attraction for empty nesters in the types of products that are being built here, which include larger condominium apartments and townhouses.

The development team at Edge-on-Hudson, a joint venture of SunCal and Diversified Realty Advisors, has announced that Toll Brothers (NYSE: TOL), has signed an agreement to purchase and build out lots in Phase 1 of the project. It is anticipated that Toll Brothers will build as many as 306 units of housing, including 61 affordable workforce and senior housing units.
[...]
SunCal and Diversified will continue site development on the project, an ambitious development valued at $1 billion, which will eventually include 1,177 units of housing; a 140-room boutique hotel; 135,000 square feet of retail space and 35,000 square feet of office space. The project will also feature more than 16 acres of parkland, and a winding promenade along the water linking to the existing RiverWalk to the south and Kingsland Point Park to the north.

Edge-on-Hudson Milestone: Home Construction Begins and Sales Gallery Opens at Long-Awaited Development in Sleepy Hollow

Quote:
Home construction is underway, as Toll Brothers (NYSE: TOL) has started work on their Brownstones collection of luxury townhomes. In addition, home sales are set to commence, with the on-site sales gallery scheduled to open in the coming weeks. At the same time, the master developers of the project, a joint venture of California-based SunCal and New Jersey-based Diversified Realty Advisors, have begun infrastructure work on Phase 2 of the ambitious $1 billion development, set to establish a regional destination and gateway to the Hudson Valley.

Well this is the sort of large-scale new urban development you don't see too much of in the tri-state and New England (common in the DMV though). Very nice. I think they should put the station in, as the scale of this can dwarf some of the existing towns if they make it dense enough.
