The interested area takes place near the frontier - less than 1 km - beside the highway, in via Como.

The story.

In 1999 the Federal Council announces that it will give a limited number of concessions in order to create new casinos. Chiasso tryes to obtain it: the casino would be built in this area. In 2001 the Council rejects the candidature, because the project doesn't satisfy its parameters.

The mall.

The works start in 2007. The building is called "L'Uovo" (The Egg), because of its ovoidal form. It is 21,50 m. tall and about 50 m. long. It will have 150 shops for children from 0 to 14 years old. There will be about 500 car parks.

I'm sorry if there are linguistic mistakes.

Thank you!!!

Von Lonter,

We're in the last straight line towards the finish line now.
Opening the mall on Thursday the 29th of September 2011 with a four day during 3 dimensional inside event.
Indeed there will be water surrounding the building from all sides!

At this very moment, tenants are starting their internal fit out.
Most of the structural work will be finished by the end of August; leaving us the month of September for testing and improvements.

We've also launched the official name for the building, which is "Polaris" from now on.

Von Lonter,

The building is 92,8 m. on the longest axle and 51,8 m. on the shortest axle.

Thank you Ovale!
Polaris? Why? Ovale N'uovo was more funny
I would like to be there those 4 days, if someone wants to organize a "new mall day", we can meet there together, for example sunday the 2nd of October.

Our commercial team was convinced that "the egg" or "ovale" sounded kind of "flat" and did not meet the third dimension of the extraordinary concept of the building.
After a lot of brainstorming with the marketing team, they came out with "Polaris".
Personally i'm convinced that "Polaris" sounds more sexy.

I feel happy to guide you around at the 2nd of October.
You can all discover the secret hide-outs of the building.

Aha, it sounds charming... Were the members of the team italian-speakers?

The marketing team is from Lugano and speak a nice mouthfull of Italian.
Our commercial manager and the shareholders speak dutch as their mother language (so do I).

Don't expect too much out of it though; the largest part of the building is anyway accesible to the public.
I would be able to show you the technical installations and could clarify some details about the structure, the "why's" and the "why not's" ... .

Ho cambiato il titolo, dall'originale "L'ovale n'uovo - centro commerciale. Arch. Elio Ostinelli".

A new entry for centro Ovale

Buongiorno a tutti.

Quote:
Le griffes italiane
all'assalto della Svizzera

13 settembre 2011
