Woohoo! Texas subforum, how exciting! It's strange that there are separate subforums for Florida, Tampa/St Petersburg, and Miami yet no Texas subforum.

Alot of that is because until recently most Texas users have tended to gravitate to either SSP, dallasmetropolis, or HAIF leaving few people to discuss topics or post updates on SSC.

I remember a few years ago that I was the only one reguarly posting updates in the Houston development forum.

Well that's not the case any longer, there's a gazillion Texans on here. lol

Wish there were more Tennesseans. Though we dominate on forums like Urban Planet, the Nashville Forum is one of the most active on there.

1701 Canton Street Evergreen Residences

Quote:
EVERgreen Family Residences | 1701 Canton is located in the Civic Center District of Downtown Dallas (adjacent to the Farmers Market neighborhood) and will be comprised of both short-term and permanent supportive housing for children of families who are in need of housing. The development is consistent with key recommendations made in the Downtown Dallas 360 Plan recently approved by City Council. The facility will provide a residency for approximately 325 resident citizens of the United States who have neither the personal resources nor opportunity within our community to fulfill their basic housing need.

It would be great too see some more mid/affordable cost housing in place in and around downtown Dallas. Call me lame, but I'm a sucker to some of the housing projects built in and around Europe.

How would a few of these towers look in comparison to the apartment complexes we have along our expressways?

Dallas is booming, something the rest of this country should catch up.

New Student Housing to Break Ground at University of North Texas

Quote:
By Jeffrey Steele, Contributing Writer

Dallas—Brent Little has three teen-aged children at or near college age. So when the Dallas-based developer of student housing needs a sounding board for his ideas, he has a ready-made focus group seated around him at the family dinner table.

One thing he’s noticed from surveying his own offspring, Little tells MHN, is that “there’s nothing these kids have in their possession older than five years old they’re happy with. If we’re not innovating, we’re going to fail.”

That philosophy helped shape plans for 33 North, a 139-unit, 427-bed student housing community adjacent to the University of North Texas in Denton. The development will break ground this spring and is slated for a fall, 2013 delivery.

Considering that there is a now a new separate forum for projects in the DFW suburbs (ie not in Dallas or Ft. Worth proper) I am going to repost it there.
