No! That's half a lifetime of stagnation. Wasn't the last of the tall buildings built in the Jo'burg CBD in the early 80's?

I'm told that there's movement on this...apparently they're working on a detailed design at the moment. DHK are apparently involved.

Awaiting some solid info Will let ya'll know.

Really? Would be surprising with the current over supply coming on stream. However might they be planning for 5 or more years time completion?

If I recall correctly, the UDZ incentive scheme has been extended to 2019. Considering it's still in the design phase and assuming a 24-36 month construction period, 5 years would be a pretty reasonable time period. By then the market would have had the opportunity to absorb a lot of the new vacant office space, and once again I'd assume they wouldn't go ahead without an anchor tenant signed on. That hasn't worked out very well for Roggebaai Place.

#Goldies - 36F - Mixed use - Buitengracht Street

Something other than a box that responds to the surrounding buildings and North / South axis...

Does this mean it's going ahead?

If so, it looks like we'll be getting our Old Portside after all.

Awww Yeah Booi!!!
This must must must go ahead in this form - and colourscheme is great too!
Who can we pressurise when the time comes to make sure the revisions are passes through popular consensus, and the powers that be are aware of the need to not pass yet another box no matter what? CCID/Council? Palnning Dept? - who!?

Portside has a lot of double volume spaces, the turret on the roof etc.

But yeah...I'll get excited when it's finished

YES for the shape and height. Is the SARS building not enough orange for the CBD? Anyway we'll take it!

I for one reckkon a tall white structure, and curves too, would fit the skyline very well indeed! will fit in with the grey/cream/and stone colours well
