There certainly isn't a whole lot of wealthy black money, of that I'm sure the stats can reveal!
Demographics, Geography and legacy of internal geopolitics and spatial planning aside, howcome we haven't had wealthy black South Africans in any great numbers decide "Hey, Jozi isn't for me - let me try this beautiful place inside my own country with beaches and clean streets and higher safety and less grime and potholes and traffic"
Is it a matter of taste/ cultural identity?
Maybe its just whities that for some reason equate living by the sea as the epitome?
I dunno, its a helluva murky question!

You guys have basically answered your own question and illustrated how racist it is to have asked the question in the first place.

Pointing out that most wealth in Cape Town is concentrated in white hands is not racist.

It is well known that Cape Town is the least racially integrated of South Africa's big 4 cities and there is plenty of statistical data and anecdotal evidence to support this:

E.g. Racial distribution dotmap: https://dotmap.adrianfrith.com/

It is still very common to go to a restaurant or cafe in Cape Town where all the customers are white and all the staff are non-white (except the owner or manager who will usually be white).

When it comes to even wealthier sections of society like the type of people who buy apartments in 16 on Bree or Zero2one, this skews even more overwhelmingly white.

Pointing this out is not an issue or "racist". It is a serious problem that Cape Town needs to confront hands on and continues to do a terrible job at. And I say this as someone who loves CT and thinks it is one of the greatest cities to live in.

Urban Rambler - you're an idiot. Can you take your idiot discussion and thoughts elsewhere, maybe in a hell hole like Twitter.

Guys, if you can't discuss this like adults and not fling insults, please rather keep quiet.

Personally I was simply conjecturing as to why stats don't show any large migration of middle class/ wealth non whites to Cape Town.
That's all. not racist.
if it is realised as a potential marketing nightmare for CT - city of priveledge, then how can it be corrected?
What factors need to come into place that this new bracket desires CT as a place to live in as much as the established (and white dominated) domestic investors?
- especially for flats like 16 on Bree

Discussions above aside, we're getting an inspired addition to our skyline. That should make all of us proud.

I was merely pointing out that this discussion is a form of white knighting whereas some in the discussion already pointed out that they don't choose Cape Town not that Cape Town doesn't choose them.

Anyway I would prefer development discussion be about developments and not social and cultural problems.

This may be old news but the "Eiendomme" supplement of Die Burger today reports that bulding will commence in June and that the structure will be completed at the end of 2019. Plenty of other info in the article (page 2).

Love the skinny side profile of this building. It's like a menshealth cover model.
