I like how they've revised the design. The bottom section reminds me a bit of the SunSquare Cape Town City Bowl hotel.

Fantastic, really exciting to see new stuff still coming into the pipeline but with funding temporarily pulled for Zero2One (I hope only temporarily) and talk of other stuff stalling what are the prospects of this project getting underway any time soon? Just looking at balcony counts maybe this is more weighted to offices. Is it mostly CBD heavily weighted resi projects that are struggling at the moment?

Looks like this will be truly mixed use including:

"Vita Nova @Rubik

Will provide extended stays to younger professionals, postgraduates and millennials, with much-needed meal-with-accommodation packages that are affordable, reliable and secure. The convenience in an urban area, where your own transport is not necessary, and interaction in a co habitation environment encourages and creates valuable networks and friendships.

Vita Bona @Rubik

Two floors of upmarket residential hotel apartments are situated on the 23rd and 24th floors, with stunning views of Table Mountain, the Atlantic coast and the V&A Waterfront. A sun deck with pool and clubhouse facilities has mountains and beaches as backdrop. Numerous services, including a restaurant and state-of-the-art security, make this a true landmark building in the heart of the Mother City."

Sandak Lewen has moved out, and so has the gun shop. I hope this is imminent

Cape Town to get a stunning new skyscraper – modelled after a Rubik’s cube

Quote:
Property developer Abland, in partnership with Giflo and Nedbank, will construct a new mixed use skyscraper in the Mother City – The Rubik – which will include premium office space and luxury apartments.

The building has been designed by architect firm dhk, and features a stacked glassed tower block which, as the name suggests, angulates at various points to represent cubes.

According to Abland, the development will cost around R480 million to complete, with construction anticipated to commence around the middle of the year, and completion targeted for 2021.

The Rubik will feature luxury apartments starting from R2.4 million, which will be sold by Dogon Group Properties, and will have penthouses with floor-to-ceiling windows, a 24-hour concierge security, underground parking and easy access to lifestyle features of Cape Town’s CBD.

The development will also feature a sun deck with pool and rooftop entertainment area clubhouse facilities, as well as a restaurant and state-of-the-art security, it said.

The development site is located on the corner of Riebeek and Loop Street in Cape Town’s CBD

CAPE TOWN’S LUXURY MIXED-USE THE RUBIK LAUNCHES TO MARKET

6 Mar 2019
by PropertyWheel_GLP3 min read

Cape Town’s CBD has welcomed the newly launched luxury mixed-use building, The Rubik.

The development is located on the corner of Loop and Riebeek Streets, consisting of premium residential apartments above luxury offices and high-end retail space which is housed within a distinctive modern glass clad ‘tiered’ building which is reminiscent of the Rubik’s cube.

Developed by Abland, marketed by Dogon Group Properties and in partnership with Nedbank and Giflo, DHK Architects designed the apartments, penthouses and offices within the Rubik, featuring floor to ceiling windows, 24-hour concierge security, state-of-the-art technology, fixtures and finishes, minimalist elements and lots of clean open spaces. Prices start from R2.4 million, with spectacular views over Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and the ocean.
