X-Flats... new luxury student residences in Waterloo

www.xflats.com

I think the name is a bit cheesy, and it's a bit overdesigned... but this is really really exciting for Waterloo. @ University and King... It's going to be exciting... I think residents will really take notice!

Okay... It's really growing on me already haha... the turquoise glass is kind of a refresher from all the details elsewhere... can't wait!

Cheesey name indeed, but the building isn't too bad. It looks some what of a hospital building though. The glass is nice I agree.

Reminds me of the new hospital here. I could easily see it located at our own university.

Unfortunately, multi storeyed buildings scare people here. Oh well.

I like the design. It's not too boxy, and not too messed up looking.

hmm... nice building for a dorm. but i wouldn't really want to be living in a condo building which is styled for university students, AND lived in my university students *shivers* (i am one btw.. but not untidy nor do i live on campus) hahaha.

good building... is this going in the downtown or in the university campus?

i should show my friends going to waterloo this info haha. thanks thryve!

It will be one of the major building projects in the city when it begins going up... it's quite a big deal.

It is not downtown, it is @ King and University. This building definitely represents the direction University Street is going in... it's densifying and getting with the times a bit, and I think it will be quite urban in the future... maybe more Toronto-ish.

University Street can become quite nice if you ask me. Some streetscape improvements, wider sidewalks, and building buildings right at the sidewalk (they're already so, so close) would be good improvements. But of course, the city won't hire me.

I really like the design... it's more like king and hickory though; I thought it would be right at the king-university intersection (take out that 7-11 stripmall ).

Well, the Ontario section is dead so I am always trying to create some actiong here. The discussion can shift over to the designated Kitchener-Waterloo section soon enough.

Purdy. It does look like a cancer centre but it’s still nice especially for a student residence. But I wouldn’t want to live in it since it would be filled with rich student snobs lol.

They passed me a disk for the development on campus recently. Haven't had a look at it though. As if I could afford this?

Looks alright from the picture. It is nice to see Uni Ave spring up a bit.

I am really excited about that street... many student housing developments, much sidewalk use, new Laurier fitness centre, new Starbucks, new apartment tower, ever-improving retail... it's going to be a rocking street someday!
