Same with WOLVES (Wolverhampton Wanderers). We just need our clubs to kick on.
To be fair I’ve hear birmingham city called the blues when referred to and West Brom as the baggies too

They should use that in their marketing.

I noticed Le Mans 66 on the side of a buz today - be interesting how Bale portrays the driver Ken Miles who was a Brummy.

Hopefully he’s kept the accent.

Remember the Sefridges Windows image? Well, we've got another one! On my Windows login there was a picture I thought looked familiar - Bing accredits it to Birmingham Town Hall but of course it isn't!

I didn't know until tonight but it appears that the Peakys have had an effect on marketing with Aldi's new Christmas adverts starring some Brussel Sprouts with caps called the 'Leafy Blinders' who've come to take back Christmas by order of the Leafy Blinders. Ha ha ha

At the end of the quick advert, there is a newspaper page on the floor with a picture of Kevin the Carrot who is the usual star of the Aldi Christmas adverts. The newspaper page also has an article on it entitled 'Brummies set for a blinding Christmas'.

Quote:
WHEN Christian Bale realised his character Ken Miles came from Sutton Coldfield, just outside Birmingham, it gave him licence to go full Brummie. Initially, the actor could only find a couple of clips of Miles talking. ‘It was in this incredibly plummy voice.’ The actor was not convinced, believing that Miles was putting this on. ‘I know Sutton Coldfield is a well-to-do town but he’s from the Midlands!’

Working with a dialect coach from Solihull, Bale, who was born in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, before moving to southern England, crafted not only Miles’ voice but also his colourful vernacular.

‘They were giving me all sorts of expressions,’ he says. ‘I was chucking things in that even people in England aren’t all going to get unless maybe they live right near Birmingham — “Going round the Wrekin” and “Your mum works out back at Rackhams” and calling a sandwich a cob.’

No word yet on whether Americans will need subtitles.

Christian Bale sounds like DD's John Taylor in the trailer.

(Nick's Rhodes faux Brummie/Solihull foppery would not have cut the mustard in this instance.)

Anyone else notice that as soon as Peaky Blinders was finished the drama had to get back to that familiar place? World on Fire is brilliant (even though the main character is too much like Hugh Grant) but why did it have to set the English part of the drama in Hale and [email protected]? Sean Bean is from Sheffield so why it couldn't have been set there is debatable. It seems that the media have to focus back on the the 2 x English areas that crave attention before the other regions get too much of a look in.

Yes, I thought the same at the time.

Mind you, we're about to get a Brummie character in a major Hollywood film with Christian Bale in Le Mans 66. I think it comes out this week.

I for one will be watching this in the IMAX. It supposed to genuinely be a really good movie.

Did anyone see the 3 minute comedy segment before the main 6 o clock news on BBC, extracting the urine out of the Birmingham accent, why doesn't this surprise me anymore.

Without seeing it, it's difficult to comment but now that Peaky Blinders is well and truly over, it doesn't surprise me that the BBC is back to being the Birmingham Bashing Corporation.

Not seen that segment but doesn't surprise me. BBC tossers. The whole corporation is totally overrated and up its own ar*e.
