La Défense has been conceived a few years before the Maine-Montparnasse operation and there was already a few towers when the Tour Montparnasse has been completed (Tour Areva and CB21 being delivered the following year), so the development of La Défense is not really related with the "failure" of the Tour Montparnasse. A consequence of it would rather be the decline of towers projects inside the city center.

Big fan of Tour Montparnasse, I remember as a young high rise geek - Londoner, back in the day, envying its skyscraperness. For me it's a reminder that central Paris could take additional tall buildings.

You feel soulless, artificial and organic. Are you sure you aren't just a bot programmed to annoy people?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE HOW DARE PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS THAN MEE!!1

Go on, enjoy your 60%-vacant government-scrapers, but I sure won't.
The MIBC in Moscow is a definition of an inorganically built cluster, as it was artificially conceived from start to finish in a state bureau instead of arising from a private market necessity. The private market didn't need 'em and it shows - not only in extremely high vacancy rates that stuck for years but also in the generally artificial outlook of the whole cluster as it seems to spring out from nowhere. To me MIBC looks bad, fits bad and even the height is wasted on the skyscrapers as there aren't any mid/high-rises nearby to salvage it.

I'm not a little kid to get hooked on something just because it's tall. Moscow tries too hard and it's easy to see.

You might have noticed that smaller towers are starting to pop up all around the MIBC.

You do have a point that it's inorganic, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Sometimes, when a whole cluster is planned together, the architects can do a better job making the whole thing coherent.

Maybe, but they're still a looong way from getting there.
Warsaw will look much better 10 years from now too, but who cares? We're rating skylines as they are right now, not as they will be in 2030. We have a different thread for that.

Let's end this discussion with a bang:

I see warsaw like a ‘sympathic’ skyline who tries to compete with big cities whithout success.
Why?
Because i think most of people does’t care of Warsaw
They want London,Paris & Frankfurt.
I.e the league A of european skyscrappers.
