I think SFO is definitely a potential future destination however, I believe PVG, HKG, IAD will take priority.

PVG or HKG can go first, especially the latter is further away from PEK and the former is an economic juggernaut. IAD, though... could be served by JFK and EWR.

I think, LOT should also take into consideration and make analyses in order to introduce connection to Australia... at least with two airports (Perth for sure and Sydney or Brisbane etc.). Ofcourse there is need to have ER airplanes for this purpose, but potential connection(s) could be very profitable.

Finally confirmed:

Polish airline LOT to fly to New Delhi
16.01.2019 00:10

The carrier plans to offer flights to India’s capital five times a week beginning September 17, with bookings opening on Wednesday.

The Warsaw-New Delhi trip will last seven hours, according to LOT.

The airline's executives hope the new service will prove popular with both Polish and foreign tourists and businesspeople.

India, the world’s seventh-largest economy, is the second-largest market for direct investment by Polish businesses in Asia, after Singapore.

LOT says it carried 8.8 million passengers last year, 2 million more than in 2017.

This year, the airline is eyeing a new record of 10 million passengers, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

Since the beginning of 2016, the airline has launched 66 new flights, including new long-haul destinations such as Los Angeles, Tokyo and Seoul, bringing the total to 107, according to the news agency.

Plans for 2019 include the launch of regular flights to Miami, Beirut and Varna on the Bulgarian coast.

The Polish airline was last month named "Best Airline in Eastern Europe" by US magazine Global Traveler.

LOT to Launch Warsaw – New Delhi Service

LOT Polish Airlines, Poland’s flag carrier will launch a new non-stop service between Warsaw and New Delhi, starting 17 September 2019. As with all of LOT’s long-haul services, the new route will be operated by state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners five times a week. Tickets will be available on sale starting from tomorrow on (16 January).

The new route launch will provide the shortest and most convenient connection from centrally located hub in Warsaw to New Delhi as well as access to many Central, Eastern and Western-European cities. The first flight will commence on 17 September from Warsaw Chopin Airport to New Delhi’s Terminal 3 (with the return flight taking off from New Delhi on 18 September).

New Delhi was chosen not without reason as the next LOT destination in Asia. India is inhabited by over 1.3 billion citizens and is the world’s 7th biggest economy. After Singapore, India is the second centre of direct investment in Asia for Polish entrepreneurs. In turn, for Indian business, Poland has a cost-effective and profitable investment environment. Geolocation of Poland with LOT’s extended network of connections rank Warsaw hub as a gateway for Indian passengers enabling them access to all countries in Europe. The new LOT’s connection will be a key element in strengthening economic ties and developing business relations between the two countries.

The effective schedule of 5 weekly flights connects the home town airports of Star Alliance member air carriers: LOT Polish Airlines and Air India. The new route launch features excellent connectivity via Warsaw, starting from 40 minutes i.e. to/from London City Airport, Paris, Brussels, Kraków, Geneva, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Hanover, Oslo, Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Billund, Prague and Budapest.

Summer schedule 17.09.19 – 26.10.19:

LO 071 WAW-DEL 22:40 – 09:00(+1) Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

LO 072 DEL-WAW 11:15 – 15:50 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday

The new connection will be operated exclusively by the most modern wide-body aircraft in the world – the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Each aircraft will feature three travel classes – LOT Business Class with seats which recline to the position of a flat bed and a galley akin to one at a top-class restaurant; LOT Premium Economy Class with larger personal space, comfortable seats with footrests, thigh support, cocktail tables and a rich menu, as well as LOT Economy Class with modern seats with personal in-flight entertainment screens and USB sockets, and fresh and diverse meals served during flights. Also present on board will be products containing regional elements, such as a Singapore-style menu.

The launch of the connection from Warsaw to New Delhi is part of the profitable growth strategy which LOT has been implementing since the beginning of 2016. As result, over three years, LOT has become the fastest growing airline in Europe, doubling its fleet size and launching over 60 new connections worldwide. This year, deliveries of the next nine B737 MAX are scheduled, increasing their number by the end of this year to 14. Also by the end of this year, four more B787 Dreamliner aircraft will be included in the fleet, which will increase their number in the LOT fleet to 15.

In the previous year, LOT broke its record carrying on board over 8.8 million passengers, which is 2 million more than a year earlier. This year, it plans to cross the barrier of 10 million passengers carried onboard. LOT Polish Airlines is a fully integrated member of the Miles & More frequent flyer program and a member of the Star Alliance since 2003.

The tickets for flights on Warsaw-New Delhi route can be purchased from tomorrow on (16 January) using all available channels, including at the website: www.lot.com, LOT Contact Center, the LOT Travel offices and travel agents. Distribution of tickets from other cities in Europe will start by the end of September this year.

Rumors going around LOT's fleet will grow by 20 aircraft in 2019. So far the confirmed aircraft include:

9x 737 Max
4x 787-9

We shall see what the other 7 are. Maybe 2-3 more 789s / more 737 Maxes / or perhaps additional E190s to join the 4 in service?

Demand

The airline will try and chase the traditional traffic from India to North America, as it operates to Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Newark and New York and intends to begin Miami before New Delhi. The airline also operates to Montreal, Toronto and Edmonton in Canada.

The New Delhi flight connects to Chicago, Newark and New York with close connection outbound from Delhi and a longer one inbound. However, the flight timings offer seamless two way connectivity to Belgrade, Kiev, Tallinn, Vilnius, Riga, Budapest, Bucharest, Madrid, Venice, Milan, Berlin, Prague, Copenhagen and Brussels. These destinations have seen an uptick in traffic from India in recent times and few of these see direct service from Air India.

Estimates given out by Warsaw Airport – Aero marketing team suggest that the demand of passengers travelling between New Delhi and Warsaw by one-stop flights (in-direct demand) was 26,000 in 2017 and New Delhi is one of the top five cities unconnected from Warsaw by passengers flown.

I am not optimistic about LOT's future.

Their achievements would be great, if it were a Southeast Asian carrier, but LOT pales in comparison in product, in volume and growth to even Air France.

You can not compare LOT to the AF, KLM, LH or BA. Totally differen scale of activity.

LOT airlines launches new connections to Beijing

Polish national air carrier LOT will launch four connections a week to the newly built Beijing-Daxing International Airport by late October 2019, the company announced.

In total, there will be seven flights a week to Beijing; in addition to the four new, three current flights to Beijing Capital Airport will be maintained.

LOT has been operating direct connections between Warsaw and Beijing since 2012. Beijing-Daxing International Airport, which is scheduled to open in the autumn this year, creates new business opportunities for the Polish company.

Polish Airlines to expand its Budapest hub by seven new destinations

Poland’s national air carrier LOT will start flying from Budapest to Seoul on September 22, in addition to six other destinations that will be made available from March 30, 2020.

“Starting from March 30, LOT will start flying from the Hungarian capital to… Sofia, Prague, Belgrade, Stuttgart, Bucharest and Brussels,” said the company’s CEO Rafał Milczarski, adding that “this way the number of routes operated by the airlines at the Budapest airport will increase to 12.”

LOT that has been the major air transport provider at the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport since Malév Hungarian Airlines was declared insolvent on February 3, 2012.

“The development strategy for the LOT hub in Budapest announced last year is now becoming a reality,” said Mr Milczarski, adding that three additional Embraer 195 crafts will be permanently stationed at its Budapest base. Starting from Summer season 2020, the LOT fleet at Budapest will number five crafts, including Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The head of the Budapest airport deems LOT as the main partner supporting the airport’s development. “We have been working for a long time so that LOT may open an Asia-bound route from our capital. We are happy that the choice fell upon Seoul,” he said, adding that the touristic and business potential of the Budapest-Seoul connection is huge with “as many as 70,000 passengers picking this destination yearly.”

“At the expense of Seoul-bound flights, LOT has scaled down the frequency of flights to New York City from four to three per week,” said Mr Milczarski, adding that “flights to Chicago will be carried out solely on Sunday.”

According to Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Tamás Menczer, Hungary’s economy may benefit from the new LOT connections. Currently, there are 80 flight assistants and a dozen pilots operating LOT flights from Budapest. The company plans to employ around 150 pilots to strengthen the teams both at Warsaw and Budapest.

LOT offers 111 scheduled connections to three continents. In 2018, the company transported over 8.9 mln passengers. The forecast for this year amounts to over 10 mln passenger.

You have an answer.

Quote:
Non-stop connection from San Francisco to Warsaw

On 5th August 2020 LOT will launch a direct flight from Warsaw to San Francisco.
The flight, during which LOT’s Dreamliners will cover over 10 thousand km, will take almost 12 hours. It will therefore be the fastest way to travel from San Francisco to Poland and the entire CEE region. Connections on this route will be operated four times a week, according to the following timetable:

Offer details
Route Departure Arrival Schedule
San Francisco- Warsaw (LO36) 16:26 13:30 (+1) Monday, Friday
San Francisco- Warsaw (LO38) 22:10 18:45 (+1) Wednesday, Saturday
Warsaw - San Francisco (LO35) 11:35 14:30 Monday, Friday
Warsaw - San Francisco (LO37) 17:20 20:15 Wednesday, Saturday

The flights to San Francisco will be operated exclusively onboard Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the most advanced wide-body aircraft in the world. Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art technology, they allow to maintain a higher pressure and higher air humidity on board than other passenger aircrafts in this class. All those factors help enhance passengers’ comfort during such a long flight and reduce the so-called jet lag effect.

CEO mentioned in a interview that LOT Polish Airlines will place a significant order (in my opinion up to 20 aircraft) on either 787-10 or A350s.

Would be nice to see the A350 in LOT's livery

Some news!

Quote:
LOT Polish Airlines launched flights between Colombo and Warsaw!

LOT Polish Airlines’ Boeing 787 Dreamliner landed in Colombo inaugurating LOT’s first regular, seasonal winter flights to Asia. The flight, during which the aeroplane flew 7,283 km lasted 9 hours. From now until March 28th flights to Ceylon Island will be operated three times a week. This way LOT boosts the tourism traffic from Poland and other European countries to Sri Lanka

LOT Polish Airlines, a Star Alliance Member, has launched today regular seasonal flights between Warsaw and Colombo. Until March 28th Boeing B787-8 and B787-9 will be operating this route three times weekly according to the following schedule:

LO69 WAW-CMB 14:25-04:15(+1) Fridays, Wednesdays, Sundays
LO70 CMB-WAW 08:05-14:00 Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays

– Colombo is already the seventh LOT’s flight destination in Asia and the first launched regular seasonal winter flight to the region. We fully benefit from our modern and long-distance fleet and we select destinations that have the biggest potential. For many years, Southern Asia has been one of the most frequently chosen alternative to more traditional travel destinations during winter by the growing number of tourists. Almost two million passengers travel from Europe to Colombo annually. This winter, thanks to our offer, passengers will be able to travel to the paradise island of Ceylon, – says Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines.

The schedule of flights between Warsaw and Colombo has been planned in a way that provides passengers with the shortest flight with one short transfer (50 minutes) at the Chopin Airport in Warsaw, from most of the cities using LOT services in Poland, Western Europe and Scandinavia, Baltic countries, Prague, Budapest or Zagreb.

Ceylon, which is located in the Indian Ocean, attracts tourists with its endless sandy beaches, rich fauna, ancient architecture and distinctive cuisine. The country itself is one of the largest supplier of tea in the world, which explains why its vast majority is covered with tea plantations. From November to March, the average temperature on Sri Lanka reaches 30 C, which makes it a perfect destination for those who long for the sun during winter.

–Thanks to the cooperation between LOT and travel agencies, every year, our Dreamliners fly to many exotic destinations which are chosen by our passengers as their holiday destinations. I am happy that we took a step forward by introducing the first regular seasonal flights to Asia. This will be also a great offer for Sri Lankans who plan to visit Europe or the US or Canada during winter,- Rafał Milczarski adds.

The newly introduced flights will be carried out with modern wide-body aircraft – Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Each will provide three classes: LOT Business Class with seats reclining to a position of a flatbed and a kitchen that could rival the best restaurants; LOT Premium Economy Class with larger individual space, comfortable seats with footrests and thighs support, cocktail tables and a rich menu, and LOT Economy Class with modern seats equipped with individual screens, USB ports as well as freshly prepared and diverse dishes from the region.

The introduction of flights between Warsaw and Colombo is an element of the profitable growth strategy which LOT has been implementing since 2016. Most of that strategy has been implemented ahead of time. Poland’s flag carrier is constantly developing its fleet. LOT just received its 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Two additional and larger Dreamliners will be added in the spring of 2020.

Last year, over 8.9 million passengers chose LOT, which is 2 million more passengers than in the previous year. In December, the Polish air carrier plans to provide services to 10 million passengers. Currently, LOT uses 90 modern aircraft on a daily basis.

In its offer, the carrier provides over 110 flights, including 17 long-haul flights.
