903. Basel, Switzerland

-----

I liked Basel.
It was never meant to be a part of our road trip.
But when we decided to end the trip at the same airport where we started it we felt it would be interesting to find somewhere else than Zürich for the last night.
Basel are just an hour away from Zürich Airport so it was perfect.
I'm happy we did go there. I had never thought of going to Basel before, and it didn't really cross my mind when initially planning the trip either.
It's a very beautiful city, and if you're in Zürich for a few days you should definitely consider taking a day trip there.

904. Denver, Colorado

-----

I want to go back to Denver in a few years just to see how it has developed.
I could see lots of construction while I was there, and I've learnt that there's even more going on.
Hopefully this city can see a large, living, dense and populated Downtown area in a decade or so.
I read on Reddit a few days ago that Denver and Seattle are the American cities that are building the highest percentage of apartments.
Both cities was also among the most rapidly expanding cities in the country.
Looking at Google Maps it's interesting to see how much the streetscape of this city has changed for the past ten years.
Lots of old parking lots has changed into apartment buildings, mostly with businesses and stores at the ground level.

905. Belgrade, Serbia

-----

Thanks!

The hatred towards the United States and NATO could be clearly felt in Belgrade.
There's the, what it looked like permanent, exhibition outside of the Parliament Building that I've posted before (and it's sort of visible in the last picture).
The inscription on the sculpture in the fifth picture reads:
"Dedicated to the children killed in NATO aggression 1999."

These are some of the few good pictures I got of Istanbul.
The Cats of Istanbul are a cute feature of this otherwise rather rough city.

Hanoi are by far the most chaotic city I've been to.
It's madness that such a large city does not have any public transportation.
Luckily they are building a metro. Hopefully it will be completed quickly.

Hong Kong ranks seventh on the UN Human Development Index and has one of the longest life expectancy in the world.
Over 90 per cent of its population uses public transportation."

909. Raton, New Mexico

-----

Raton are a small town in Northern New Mexico, almost on the border to Colorado.
While exploring the Main Street of this town a local stopped in his car and asked if I were taking pictures of a dying America.
It's sad, but it's also true.
In 2000 A little bit over 7000 people lived here.
In 2018 it was estimated that only 6000 were left.

911. Helsinki, Finland

-----

The Finnish Capital have become a hub for air traffic between Europe and Asia in recent years.
Given its size there a huge amount of intercontinental traffic to and from Helsinki.
I hope that alot of the non-Finnish persons that are transiting there also takes a day or two to sightsee the city itself.

913. Las Vegas, Nevada

-----

Thanks!

I've been to Las Vegas three times for the past ten years (2010, 2015 and 2016).
One of the most major changes have been the construction of T-Mobile Arena (Visible in: One, Three, Four and Five).
The first time I visited, no sign at all of this building was visible.
The second this it was in the middle of construction,
and the most recent time it had been open for a few months.
It's mostly used for concert and Ice Hockey with NHL team Vegas Golden Knights.

Downtown San Diego are surprisingly dense and interesting for being an American city.
With all the construction going on it looks like it may become even more interesting in the future.

The only city where I have mostly night pictures.
Not that it was particularly beautiful at night, but rather that the weather didn't allow for photography during the day.
However, Ximending (Pictures: 1, 2, 3 & 6) was at its best after dark.
The fourth and fifth picture are from Shilin Night Market.
Both are places that should not be missed in Taipei, and both should be visited after dark.

Last Picture:
The Pons Aemilius, today called Ponte Rotto, is the oldest Roman stone bridge in Rome, Italy.
Preceded by a wooden version, it was rebuilt in stone in the 2nd century BC.
It once spanned the Tiber, connecting the Forum Boarium with Trastevere.
A single arch in mid-river is all that remains today, lending the bridge its name Ponte Rotto ("Broken bridge")."

Excellent thread, you have a masterful perception of the liveliness and charm of cities at street level. Hopefully one day you can expand your horizons to South America.
