Skopje's clock tower is located in the complex of the Sultan Murat's mosque, on a hill very close to the old town. It was built in the period from 1566 to 1572. It was the first clock tower in the Ottoman Empire.

The mechanism of the clock was brought from the clock tower in Sziget, Hungary, after its conquering by the Turks. Skopje's clock tower was built on the foundations of an earlier medieval defense tower. At first it was made of wood, but later was built with bricks.

This tower survived a big fire in 1689, but in 1904 was rebuilt in today's form. In the earthquake that hit Skopje in 1963 the clock tower suffered some damage and the clock mechanism was lost, but in 2008 a new clocks were installed.

Today this tower is one of the many symbols of the oriental past of the city of Skopje.

Down the hill where the clock tower and the mausoleum are located, there is the Isa-Bey mosque, built in 1475. This mosque was heavily damaged during the earthquake in 1963 and it's minaret was ruined, but later was reconstructed along the mosque as well. This mosque is being considered as a representative of the early Constantinople/Istanbul architecture, since it's being built according the Rum Mehmed Pasha mosque in Istanbul.

In the yard of the mosque there is an old Platanus Orientalis three, that in 1993 was 550 years old (that means that today is 572 years old). This three is protected as a natural monument.

One of the few old houses that survived the earthquake in 1963. This one is from 1926. It's located in the center of the city.

The Stone Bridge (Macedonian: Камен мост) is a bridge across the Vardar River. The bridge is considered a symbol of Skopje and is the main element of the coat of arms of the city, which in turn is incorporated in the city's flag. The Stone Bridge connects Macedonia Square, in the center of Skopje, to the Old Bazaar (Skopje's old town).

The Stone Bridge is built of solid stone blocks and is supported by firm columns that are connected with 12 semicircular arcs. The bridge is 214 m (702 ft) long and 6 m (20 ft) wide. The guardhouse has recently been reconstructed.

The current Stone Bridge was built on Roman foundations under the patronage of Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror between 1451 and 1469. Throughout the centuries, the Stone Bridge was often damaged and then repaired. There is historical evidence that it once suffered during the great earthquake of 1555 which heavily damaged or destroyed four pillars. In 1944, explosives were placed on the bridge by Nazis. When Skopje was liberated, the activation of the explosives was prevented and the bridge was saved from destruction. Some executions have also taken place on this bridge, such as the execution of Karposh in 1689.

The Skopje Fortress (Macedonian: Скопско Кале, transliterated Skopsko Kale), commonly referred to as Kale Fortress, or simply Kale (from kale, the Turkish word for 'fortress'), is a historic fortress located in the old town of Skopje. It is situated on the highest point in the city overlooking the Vardar River. The fortress is depicted on the coat of arms of Skopje, which in turn is incorporated in the city's flag.

Along the walls there are pathways to walk on and to have a panoramic view towards some parts of the city. In the moment there are ongoing archaeological excavations inside the fortress.
