Aside from the strip, Vegas looks pretty much like any other Southerwestern American city: Phoenix, Tucson, Fresno, Albuquerque, San Bernandino, etc. They all have sprawl, have wide streets, landscaped medians with rocks, and have a lot of newer housing styles that fit in with the desert landscape. But that's not a bad thing, I've always found the mix of suburbia and the rugged terrain around these cities interesting.

Yes Vegas is similar to the other cities in the Southwest but not as big. Vegas' population is around 2 million with the the State of Nevada totalling around 2.5 million. Far more visitors in Vegas than residents. Last year even with slowdown in the global economy, Vegas had 37 million domestic and foreign visitors.

There are many new developments in Vegas, housing and commercial. For the longest time, If I remember correctly for 19 years in a row Vegas was one of the fastest growing city in the nation.

A small community of loft style homes. On the last photo, the loft is currently listed at $499,000. 3 bedroom 2 bath, 3000 sq ft. Year built was 2005. For a small house without exclusivity, not even a gated community, I think the loft is overpriced.

Getting offered homes just like these almost on a weekly basis for virtually penneys thesedays. An investors dream I suppose...

Great though to see a different side to Vegas instead of all the usual stuff we are get subjected to 24/7 from the downtown/strip.

Thx for all the great shots, jbkayaker12

Here are some photos of restaurants my friend and I have dined in. We like to dine al fresco and Vegas offer great weather pretty much year round.

^Thanks.
Aside from Pine and Palm trees, Cherry trees are also widely used for landscaping in Vegas.

Yes they are nice, the blooming cycle this year is almost over. It is fast warming up and leaves are starting to sprout out from the branches.

I wouldn't live in Vegas for the urban lifestyle. I would live there for the golfing, mountain biking and hiking in the desert, and things of that nature. The outskirts of Vegas are quite impressive--with things like Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire (which is a bit farther away).
