Its fine but I'd rather have something along the lines of this.

With the indent towards the Forshay to give it space!

Yeah, and I like how that's more filling too. Would definitely notice it more in the skyline

Skyscraper? Or Vortex of Satan?

Quote:
It is one of the eeriest Manhattan landmarks: In glowing red neon atop Midtown's Tishman Building is 666--better known as THE MARK OF THE BEAST. A beacon to Satanists? Well, no, says Arthur Bocchi, a senior managing director with Sumitomo Realty & Development, which owns the building. The numbers, he says, simply denote the building's address, 666 5th Ave., and have been there since it was constructed in 1957.
A likely story.
FORTUNE took a field trip to investigate, keeping an eye out for any devilish goings-on. We visited the building's 13th floor (yes, it actually has one) and found...a Smith Barney office. Undaunted, we quizzed a lobby security guard, Andy Hernandez. Anyone ever come in and bite the head off a chicken? "No." Any pentagrams drawn on the floor? "No." Ritual sacrifices? "No." Hm. Pretty much the only debauched rituals in the building's past, it seems, were the high school proms that took place at Top of the Sixes, a restaurant that used to occupy the building's top floor. That space is now occupied by an exclusive cigar club--which may be annoying, but not, strictly speaking, satanic.
Disappointed, FORTUNE was about to leave when a knowledgeable source imparted that a couple had once been caught copulating in one of 666's elevators. Aha! The devil, no doubt, made them do it.

It's interesting that part of the reasoning the Foshay was converted to non office use was because of it's relatively small floor plates. Now potentially the new project will be part office. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm guessing the office portion will be toward the bottom and that part will be larger, allowing for some sort of tapering as it rises.

Correct, but it would be hotel, than office, Then residential.

Yeah, I'm surprised that "655" post didn't command more attention.

I wonder, assuming '655' is correct, if 655 feet is the building itself or does that measurement include any antenna type structure at the top? Doesn't the official measurement of IDS include the antenna? I'm hoping 655 is the structure itself.

The IDS height does NOT include the antenna, but it does include the penthouse structure.

655 ft. building in this location would be pretty neat. A new 5th tallest building would be nice indeed. I go agree it would be a bit disappointing to see it not take out 33 south 6th as the 4th tallest but only nerds like us would pay that much attention. Sounds encouraging!

I don't really care if surpasses or doesn't beat out 33 South 6th. I'm happy knowing it will not be 6 stories.

655 feet (including a spire) is a tower of a very good size by any standard! Would create more complexity to the dancing interplay of the towers in our skyline.

Ooh, 655 ft. I can make a model now that I got the height, although I don't know if the 655 ft is to the roof or spire.

It could be similar in height to the Four Seasons Tower in Denver, 45 stories, 565 ft roof, 641 ft spire/antenna but that tower doesn't have offices and offices have taller floors so it would be taller than that most likely. 655 ft could possibly be the roof height.

I will make some models, one with a roof at 655 ft, one with a spire at 655 ft. I finally have some free time now since my finals are done.

I think we may be seeing dancing fruit and beautiful renders soon.
