God, didn't realise how terrible the Five Ways Entertainment building is, feel sorry for the people that face that brick wall when this is built.

Seven Capital certainly don't hang around. Let's hope this bodes well for a Connaught Square start once it's got planning approval.

Agreed, and hopefully Granville Lofts, Kettleworks, St Georges Urban Village and Regency Place will all be finished by the time it starts.. that would be a heck of a lot of workers to help with Connaught Square.

I'm hoping to see Connaught Square come forward in the next moth or so for planning approval. Any more amendments and I'll weep.

Quick Q off topic..sort of. Does anyone know when Five Ways Estate behind was constructed? Bit of a chicken and egg situation here, but what came first, the proposal for Pentavia or Five Ways Estate?

I'm good at taking the pi55 out of other's spelling slips but this time the mistake lies with me. Can't think of a pi55-taking quip though.

I'd guess the early 70s, possibly though as late as 1974.

Sorry Pep, I thought you were referring to the council flats behind this site.

Nah Sefton, thats Cineworld and the Five Ways Complex, I'm talking about the Five Ways housing Estate behind, hence why I said 'estate' and 'behind'

Here

I don't want to detract too much but the only reason I asked was because I found myself looking briefly back at Pentavias plans. The larger tower was proposed to have been at the back and would have dwarfed the estate which Ralph has confirmed to have been standing at the time. Was Pentavia ever scrutinised in the same way St. Martins Place has been? Did they have opportunity to? Was it ever submitted? I know they had the backing but the economic downturn saw to that in the end. I guess it doesn't matter any more, it's just something I've wondered after reading the pre-app discussions for this project.

They started out closer to 200k I think but those were probably the first to go, I think I read somewhere that this is already 70% sold.

Posted this two days back on one of the City Threads

Quote:
Piling works have commenced and are now approximately 75% complete with initial construction of foundation works underway.

Excavation and clearing obstructions below ground are now complete. The piling platform has been constructed and sheet piling to support the footpaths at the perimeter of the site is in place.
