Some info the Star Tribune failed to mention:

If approved, the release says construction could begin by the end of 2018 and open to residents in 2020.

Looks like a cross between Rand and The Carlyle; should be interesting to see this narrow tower compared to the behemoth that is Legacy.
yes exactly.. take advantage of the views. people will pay top dollar for that. these units are huge. i'm looking forward to this tower.

This project is planned to have 3000 sq ft of retail space on W. River Pkwy and should be before the Committee of the Whole within the next month, so the plans will be public.

They are a city committee in which plans are typically first made public in detail. Then after that they go to the planning commission for approval.

And apparently the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association has approved the plans. So I guess that's out of the way (Mr. Lux must be beat red hearing that)

Glad to see Ryan and Co. with some BALLS and finally build something over 200'!! Nice height also like the Neo-Classic design.

They voted unanimously to approve.

BTW: I'm thinking they will probably have a nice lighting scheme for the upper levels at night. This will be a such a beautiful addition to the skyline, and along the parkway.

I'm surprised no one is commenting on the placement of the tower between two suburban office buildings. Quite the bizarre spot; it almost cheapens the tower to put it in such a weird place. It should really be on a corner in a prominent location instead of shoehorned into a nondescript dead end close to the freeway.

Hopefully this will encourage the redevelopment of the surrounding parcels.

....Or it'll add a touch of sophistication to the crummy suburban office buildings!

Personally I think it's a little too close to the Carlyle in style given their current airspace proximity (there's nothing really between them in their height category.) Hopefully as the skyline fills that won't be a problem though.

BTW how do we change image sizes via tags again?

The Carlyle and Eleven will be complimentary on the skyline. The very modern Alatus project will create a nice counterpoint across the river. We do have a fair amount of art deco, or art deco inspired towers downtown. Eleven very much echos the massing of The Rand Tower. As a group, they help balance out the more glassy modern skyscrapers.

If I had to guess, I would say those office buildings aren't long for this world, maybe another decade at the most.
