Cant say I like it much. However, I don’t know if it is the rubbish cgi’s or the design.

146 meters? Why not add an extra couple of floors to push it over the 150 meter point and give the city its first proper skyscraper

Seems 150 is not yet viable for resi in the city given that the city has had a few proposals falling just short.

Besides this one, which other ones seem to be falling short? I think it be a ramp up this just encourages someone to beat that height.

Honestly, itís not very often that developers care about breaking records on height. If there was only two sites that could contained a large building then maybe but Iíve never sat in a meeting with a client who cares about height. They care about the dollar and that alone. If they can make some more money they will increase the height but not if it makes life more difficult.

Am I right in thinking this hasn't yet had an application put in, but...driving past the site today and Bluecon demolition signage was being placed on Heras fencing on the side facing Masshouse ?

An app went in (and was approved) to demolish the site.

and yet this exact scenario occurred with Bank II.

it wasn't until someone happened to mention during a late stage meeting with the developer that adding a penthouse level would've put it over 100m that the decision was made on the spot by one man, to resubmit plans for the increase.

I think you underestimate the ego's involved and how much size matters to these investors who are putting their names to these projects. It's been the case since the early races to the skies in Manhattan and continues in every city, everywhere.

Don't get me wrong, it happens, it's just not common. You'll always get someone who will buy a Golf over an Leon even though they are pretty much (caveats aside) the same just because they like the VW badge. It's similar here but if the Golf is going break your budget most would just get the Leon.
