Health Crisis in UP

From what I am seeing around and deal with, can easily say UP is going through health crisis and is at alarming level. People in direct contact who lost life in last few years because of poor nutrition, sad healthy environment and pretty bad health services is I think is at alarming level. The cases are not only from poor economic background or rural background but covers almost all spectrum of families.

Case 1: Hired 2 for paint job at home around 3 years back. Younger one age around 27 dies few months later because of some health complications. He was taken to govt hospital and doctors said can not be saved. I did not notice anything wrong with him while he worked. (Happened in Lucknow)

Case 2: Maid at home severe case of malnutrition gave birth to girl child and took leave to take care of second child. After 2 years of birth the young mother age around 24 died. She had all ration cards and regularly visited doctor for checkup but her basic problem was she had only bones left in body. (happened in Lucknow)

Case 3: Family who worked at my sisters home decided to go back to village. Few months later called and told 4 year old daughter died because she touched live wire. Police booked the family in case of murder of girl child as per some law without looking into how much the parents loved the girl child.
(happened in near by district in rural area)

Case 4: In August tenant gave birth to dead child. Well to do and educated family with all kind of resources at hand. Doctors in Lucknow had no clue what happened as all report said all is OK.

Case 5: Two weeks back by cousin (extended relation) lost his 11 month old child (son). He suffered from fever and first doctor in nearest town could not manage the case. Parents took him to district and doctor it seems mismanaged the case and by the time they took him to Kanpur he died. Reasonably well to do family with no financial constraint. (Case of medical negligence and looks to be case of incompetence of doctors)

Case 6: Two days back came to know one of neighbor lost 20 year old some from some health complications. The family recently moved to NCR as only son got last year got admission in NCR.

Case 7: Yesterday young lady (33 year old) in extended relation lost life. This seems to be clear cut case of medical negligence and terribly managed case by different doctors over 2 years. The best five star private hospital initiated the mismanagement and later other doctors hardly had any clue.

Have not added any 60+ year old cases as probability and chances of survival in UP are low. The list will become really long if I add 60+ cases. You have to be lucky not to get trapped in hospital and Doctor's net once you cross 60+.

All the deaths are less than 35 years cases and is abnormal for any healthy society. Have said many times that UP is an extreme case of malnutrition and people here have no clue about the state of affairs and struck in mundane fights mostly driven by politics and other non productive activities.

any one hopes that we will achieve XYZ things with with severely, unhealthy manpower is fooling one and all. Its a crisis and needs urgent attention and focused action plan.

Medical/Health Crisis in UP

As per CAG report on health presented yesterday in State Assembly Govt Doctor spent on an average less than 5 min per patient in govt hospitals!

One should visit Lohia or KGMU OPD to get the real idea. I have seen the Lohia OPD and can say doctors do not have interest and time to listen to what patient has to say. Doctors are more eager to write some medicines and immediately shout next without worrying about the consequence. No surprise lot of cases becomes more complex over a period of time.
