Quite incredible, I wouldn't exactly call that downtown. Toowoomba seems to be developing quite nicely!

Yeah. Many of Toowoomba's taller buildings are on the CBD fringe or on the escarpment. It would be great if they were all concentrated together.

Yeah it seems a little all over the place but I'm sure it'll lead to a much denser city in the future. I think Toowoomba needs a defined "entertainment precinct" which attracts the major development to that area. Station Street could be good area, maybe build a casino along there, attract some hotels, etc.

I think that lot's of sections of Gowrie Creek could be redesigned to look much, much nicer. Take some inspiration from the Truckee Riverwalk in Reno, California. But I guess it'd be a little hard with the railway right next to it :/

It may not be as tall as was previously mentioned in this thread but the ideas seem good in regard to small shops, conference room etc.. Hope it's not delayed too much.

I wonder why the da was rejected. I thought Kwong Sang walk was designed to allow retail to be opened up along that side?

Looks like they are starting the rejuvenation of the old Railway Goods Shed. According to the TR Council website, they hope to finish by the end of 2018. I am pleased that it is being kept and a new lease of life for it awaits.

Strange and a shame that council did not want to utilize kwong sang with the Shamrock building.

Any activity at the South Central development?

South Central Demolition. I'm not sure if this is the extent of the site. It seems smaller than i'd imagined. People are still living in the houses immediately behind what's shown here.

Interesting. Do you know what the audience capacity will be, Arreis? Toowoomba is certainly well served by theatres and live music venues and this will only see it improve!

I'd love for Toowoomba to have a proper arena/entertainment centre though, for rock/pop concerts and sports. Something around the size of the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong or the Derwent Entertainment Centre in Hobart would go down well in Toowoomba (i.e. 5000-7000 capacity).

ya, i used to think where the sunday markets are would be a good spot for a hybrid stadium/entertainment venue... and redeveloping the tennis centre across the road to host a decently sized semi-pro regional tournament

I think the City Hall Annex will cater for more ceremonial occasions or for visiting delegations as it has a flat floor. I cannot see it being used for live music concerts that much.
I do believe there is a gap for a live music venue. The Empire is all about comfortable seating. I like the idea of a venue with floor space that people can freely move around with perhaps one or two tiers. A capacity of 1500 max would be good. I don't think Toowoomba could support a much larger capacity venue. But who knows.....

The Clive Berghofer Building in Baker Street hosts some concerts. By memory, John Farnham and also the final tour of Powderfinger were there. It's the same place as the uni gym. I guess its a good venue but a fair distance from the CBD.

New Development - Verona Apartments

Was driving past tourist drive today and noticed a billboard advertising this. The group of houses were recently up for sale advertising it had been approved for i think a 10 storey complex. The render seems to show 8 floors.
