Best viewpoint of Chicago skyline

What is your favorite viewpoint/view of the Chicago skyline?

My favorite viewpoint is the Adler Planetarium.

The Montrose Point view is nice, too.

I agree with the Montrose point, relaxing at the bird sanctuary and looking at the skyline during summer is the best view. I love strolling in the lake front area, I cant wait for summer time.

Oh, there are so many great views to show the skyline of your beautiful city. But if you ask especially for a view to the whole skyline I would say I prefer the 2nd one, didn't know that it's called Montrose Point view.

I don't know why, maybe because the Skyline Looks more dense and the John-Hancock-Center is better seen from this view.
Anyways, the picture you just have posted looks awesome, is there a higher resolution available?

Greetings

Well, the second one is called the Montrose Point view because the photo was taken from Montrose Point, a bird sanctuary about five miles north of the John Hancock Center, which you mentioned. You can find a lot of viewpoints where the skyline looks very similar. This general view can be called the "north view". I think the Montrose Point view is the best view from the north because it brings out both the John Hancock Center and the Sears Tower, the latter of which can be a lot less conspicuous when seen from a viewpoint closer to downtown.

The Chicago skyline from the Oak Street Beach. I've been to this beach before, and it's an excellent place to view the skyline. However, I do not like the fact that you cannot see buildings that are farther away from this beach, due to its proximity to the Near North Side skyscrapers. For example, the Sears Tower makes a very inconspicuous appearance in this photo.

Wow, this one Looks great too. I love your Skyline.

Thank you for explaining me the origin of the name

I agree there isn't the one and only view to it. For example I also love the AON Center and you couldn't see it from that view.
But that's interesting! You have different angles to see it and it looks varied.

Hey everyone, my favorite viewpoint of the skyline is on I 90 coming into the city. That's the way I have traveled into Chicago for years. I am coming in from Rockford. I think it's a very good panoramic view before I would get off on Ohio St. I don't have any pics of it because about everytime I come in from there at Christmas time....it's cloudy....lol..I am living in Tampa so I only get back there once a year...lol if anyone could get a shot from that angle I would love it........thanks....

I like the view from where the Shoreline River Taxi is. Too bad Trump put up that sigh though.

The CTA "L" Ashland station is a great place to view Chicago's skyline from the west.

Visited Chicago a couple of years ago and remember the view coming in from O'Hare on the I-90 from the taxi window. Also went out on a boat trip during my stay, great views of the city out from Lake Michigan.
