Come on Australia still looks beautiful. All these other countries are just playing Ketchup I am sure Australia will get something eventually. But I wander wether or not it will be something unique and not ordinary...

Most of these futuristic and ambitious towers are towering ( excuse the pun? ) over their neighbours......How come here in OZ if any building threatens to do that it is howled down as being too high, dominating, out of scale with it's surroundings, causes big shadows etc...don't seem to get any of these comments with tall projects elsewhere in the world?

replaces the 1950s crap 333m tower

The old tokyo tower was surrounded by many skyscrapers and the transmission tv signal was quite bad. So in 2010 the signal will shift to digital and tokyo needs a new tower able to send sinal to the whole Tokyo area.
The tower will have two ob turrets. 1 at 360m and next at 450m+.

Is the old Tokyo Tower being demolished or just replaced as the place for transmission ?

I've always though the old Tokyo tower resembled a pretty cheap rip-off of the Eiffel Tower. Was this deliberate?
