French retail giant Carrefour books space in Karen mall

Quote:
In Summary
  • Carrefour has booked 6,000 square feet of retail space at The Hub that is expected to open at the end of September next year.
  • The hypermarket chain had already announced plans to open a 100,000-square feet store at Two Rivers, a shopping complex owned by Centum, by October next year.
  • The two retail stores in Kenya will be operated by Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim Retail, the exclusive franchise holders for Carrefour.

I think Nairobi is becoming oversaturated with malls. However, The Hub, Garden City and Two Rivers will spur the rest of the malls to became more appealing. Really hope, the rest of the malls(Sarit, do you read me) will make structural changes to their designs.

I think Mombasa Road could do with two or three more malls

This place will really stand out given the greenery around it. The junction though nice seems over-built, especially with the new parking addition coming up! The Hubs Victorian bones are starting to show and I like

I'm sure the developers conduct market research before embarking on building one? If there's demand for malls and the way of life is changing, let's provide for that need.
