No other cities will ever match them.........period. Sorry China, and Dubai but you can build to the stratosphere it won't make any difference because next to New York & Chicago, you will always be regulated to the also-ran category.
Having just visited both cities late '17.... while I am not saying one is better than the other skyline wise, but New York (in my humble opinion) probably has the most (globally) iconic towers BUT NY also has some really ugly and hideous towers. I didn't see many of these in Chicago? Chicago felt like a showroom of skyscrapers to me. All neatly and perfectly positioned.

Chitown is chit compared to NYC skyline.

Lived in both cities. Drove past lake shore drive every weekday for 2 years. It starts and ends like in 3 blocks, the chicago skyline. Btw, nothing is more hideous and ugly looking then that stupid Sears Towers.

NYC is iconic, nostalgic and futuristic. If you think Chrystler Building or PanAm MetLife building is hideous, you need to develop some taste for Art Deco bygone era skyline.

NYC is way way ahead of ChiTown in skyline.

well said bro.

The other day, I was driving through Staten Island and all of a sudden, I got a totally different view of NYC skyline. Something I'm not use to.

Only Skyline in the world that gives you totally different view from all 4 ends. Nothing in the world has this.

New Jersey Hudson Water front gives you totally different view with ESB dominating.

Jersey City water front gives you different view with Freedom Tower and Twin Towers (in the past) dominating the view.

Brooklyn gives you totally different view with Brooklyn Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge dominating skyline.

LIC Queens give you totaly different view with United Nations Building dominating the view.

Simply the best skyline in the world. By far!. No close second.

OK. Where did I write that the Chrystler or Metlife buildings were hideous? If you're going to attack me please back it up with actual facts. Idiot

This is not a historical thread. Are we really rating New York City's skyline in 1913, or even 1950?

I don’t think of this as a historical thread but we can make one.
