Don’t worry, now they’ve made the whole of the Town Centre 20mph, that will cure everything.

Plus the last I heard they were going to spend more money to make the High St/New St junction safer – Where some vehicles shouldn’t be anyway !

I read that as well, but it seems it only to try & stop drivers turning left out the High Street, where they shouldn't be anyhow, into New Street. From my observation most traffic that goes up New Street comes from St Michaels Street & these alterations won't stop that if I read it right. Reason for that I guess is because New Street still a bus route.

I did hear some sort of camera's are to be installed in new Street to penalize drivers who drive up & down there.

I really hope so! Ridiculous the amount of ignorant drivers going up and down there at all times of the day.

I like it as well , but why the Eagle? I'm struggling to make the connection between the bird & the town? Maybe they should have considered a "King" Penguin LOL

I must admit when I saw the crane, I thought it was something to do with the actual market hall update & never in a million years we would be getting an Eagle LOL

Just thought is it there to scare off the Pigeons?

Let's hope it doesn't sqwak like the sound effects that come out of New Square.

Really cringeworthy that they play a sqwaking noise to try and scare away the pigeons that just sit there throughout.

Why, some arcades play classical music to scare off teenagers.

This usually a great tactic. Perhaps they need this down the City park in Birmingham to scare away the drugs dealing teenaged skateboarders that seem to keep cropping up every now and again...

Tyne & Wear Metro actually pioneered the use of classical music as a deterent on stops in 1998

Quote:
Metro pioneered the playing of classical music in some of its stations to deter vandalism. In 1998 Frederick Delius's Incidental Music to Hassan was chosen by Metro to be played over its public address system as a deterrent to vandals. The Director General of Nexus was quoted as saying: "The aim is not to soothe but to provide a background of music that people who we are aiming at don't actually like and so they move away. It's been pretty successful." In 2005 the London Underground began to follow Metro's example.

On the bird & classical music theme, maybe play them the Firebird Suite?

It's a good idea but it would be deemed as sexist and it may make females feel insecure in their jobs.

That eagle looks really really nice, not sure how it fits in with the theme but its smart anyway, looks great, here is Sandwell councils official facebook post about it....

"This huge eagle is watching over the new Metro Plaza in West Bromwich.

Not only does he look stunning, but the eagle will also stop pigeons perching on the sign underneath.

Thanks to Secal Laser Ltd who designed made and paid for the eagle."

Does that mean that the metro plaza is complete? I Sure hope they start work on revamping Kings Square next! Great to see you back out and about Oldbury!

As long as Darren Cooper keeps the duraglit at hand to keep it sparkling

Although the shiny eagle seems at odds with the rusty bollards

Maybe it was a good job the bollards came before the Eagle, because it could have been accused of laying them
