Indore-based architects set to replicate Beijing stadiums in Jaipur (stupid and misleading headline)

Quote:
INDORE: An Indore-based architecture firm is all set to replicate Beijing in Jaipur. The firm has developed designs on the lines of Olympic stadiums built in China.

The state of art 'green' cricket stadium will use less water, optimize energy efficiency, conserve natural resources, generate less waste and provide healthier spaces for occupants. "The tenders of the proposed stadium will be finalised in next 15-20 days. We have already appointed Indore-based architecture firm to construct a green stadium," said Mahendra Sharma, treasurer, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

Estimated to cost Rs 125 crore, the stadium will have solar panels on roof tops to meet energy requirements of the stadium. Spread on 60 acres in Chomp near Amber Fort, the stadium will have fountain misters to spare spectators from agony of sitting in hot and humid climate. As per the claims of the architects, the misters will bring down the ground temperature by al least 7 to 8 degree Celsius. Other feature of the green stadium will include reflect-abled PDF coated tenso fabric.

A recycle plant for sewage treatment will be used for irrigation purposes.

The architecture firm has done a day light analysis to ensure energy efficiency and planned dual piping system for recycled water in public toilets. The stadium will be linked to tourism as well. "We have minimally disturbed natural ground which is a major criterion of green buildings. It will be a 60,000 capacity stadium with nine wickets. We have featured materials, technology and designing of the stadium to ensure that building is eco-friendly in all respects," said Jitendra Mehta of Mehta and Associates, the appointed architecture firm by RCA. Mehta has proposed a museum, restaurants and shops that will be a major attraction for foreign tourists.

Quote:

Nation's first five-star rated green building to come up in Jaipur

Quote:
JAIPUR: Come May and the country's first five-star rated green building in Achrol exclusively dedicated to environment audit will be ready to be inaugurated by Vice-President Hamid Ansari.

The International Centre for Environmental Audit and Sustainable Development (iCED), the first government green building, would be the only one in the country to cater to global training facility in environmental auditing.

The institute has been built by comptroller and auditor general (CAG) of India, after India was chosen as the centre for imparting environmental and sustainable development audit by the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

"The institute would be a centre for environment policy research and would focus on waste water, climate change, bio-diversity and sustainable development," said Rebecca Mathai, principal director iCED. This would include carrying out research on policy relating to environmental issues like climate change, household waste, hospital waste, e-waste etc.

The facility seeks to harness India's expertise in conducting more than 100 environment audits in the last 20 years to provide extensive training and a forum for experience sharing in this field.

Spread over 16 acres the iCED facility is conceived as a green building and a host of features have been incorporated in design and construction to reduce carbon footprint of the building. The 'Energy Conservation Building Code 2006' norms are being applied for energy efficient design and construction of the building. The site selection, material usage during construction, energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor environment quality etc, are planned in such a manner to ensure adherence to "green norms" for the building. The building also aims to achieve Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment ( GRIHA) ratings.

Besides that the architectural emphasis is on use of local building material and local stone cladding to cut the cost of transportation and to reduce heat transmission. Carbon emission neutrality is ensured. Energy efficiency is ensured with features like orientation optimization, overhang sizing, skylights for daylight, insulation on walls/roofs, LED & efficient lighting and 100% external lighting on solar PV cells. The building also uses 30% fly ash in concrete, fly ash bricks.

Add to that emphasis is on use of geothermal cooling by introducing an alternate cooling system which could recycle cool air from below the earth's surface (below 4 meters) into the building complexes. This coupled with solar chimneys would reduce the dependence on air conditioners. Among several other features, the building would install self contained solid waste management system.

Rajasthan's green International Centre to cost R 106cr

Quote:
Jaipur: The Rajasthan International Centre proposed near Officers’ Training School (OTS) will be developed with energy efficient features that will keep the structure cool even in the scorching summers. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the centre on Friday morning.

The architects associated with the project said a square module dominates the building formation as per the designs. In order to avoid direct heat, the building has been proposed at 45 degrees.

The central square is designed in such a way that it will control the direct heat in the whole building.

Pramod Jain, chief architecture of the project, said, “We are very ambitious about this project and have incorporated numerous innovative and energy efficient features in the building. In addition to this, the entire building form is based on a square module.” Jain also said that the centre would be a unique project when compared to similar projects in other states. “In Delhi International Centre, only a hotel and an auditorium have been constructed. But here, we are going to develop convention centres, halls, conference rooms, guest rooms and sports facilities. It will be the first international centre with such special features,” Jain said. The private and public sector organisations could hold conferences at the centre that would generate revenue for the government.

Sources said that membership of the centre will be given to the employees of all sectors.

The Rajasthan International Centre would be constructed over an area of 4 lakh square feet and the entire project would cost Rs106 crore.

It would have an auditorium having capacity to accommodate 725 persons and two mini-auditoriums having capacity of 320 and 200 persons respectively.

A banquet hall proposed on an area of 10,000 square feet could easily accommodate 1,000 persons.

Quote:

JDA plans to connect Ramniwas parking with Mahila Chikitsalaya

Quote:
JAIPUR: After drawing a plan to extend the multi-level parking at Ramniwas Bagh to accommodate more vehicles and decongest the Walled City area, the Jaipur Development Authority now plans to connect the same with the Mahila Chikitsalaya in Phase-2 of the project.

The proposal was mooted after UDH department and the empowered committee came up with several suggestions to make it more convenient for patients to reach the hospital and make optimum use of the land available near the Walled City area.

Superintending engineer, projects, Tarun Kumar Sharma said, "The concept has been approved by the UDH minister and the committee. A meeting in this regard will be called soon with the health department for their consent."

Officials said that the extension of the parking lot at the Mahila Chikitsalaya end was proposed after the UDH minister scrapped the plan to construct a subway connecting Sanganeri Gate and Ramniwas Bagh parking.

"The length of subway was beyond what was initially proposed. After this, another possibility was explored to construct a subway in front of the Sanganeri Gate," an official said.

The JDA has also made amendments in a project design that plans to connect three nearby markets of the city to the Ramniwas Bagh parking by constructing subways.

"Earlier a design was drawn to construct three subways near Sanganeri Gate, Ajmeri Gate and Chaura Raasta to provide swift passage to pedestrians. The construction of the subway near the Sanganeri Gate has been put on hold," an official said.

According to officials, JDA will soon start construction of the multi-level parking on a 26-metre strip of land at Ramniwas Bagh, where 600 more vehicles can be accommodated.

The current parking capacity at Ramniwas Bagh is 950 cars. It is learnt that the state government may also launch the Phase-2 of Ramniwas Bagh parking soon by extending the area to accommodate 1,500 more cars. If implemented, the project is set to become the country's largest underground parking with space for 2,500 cars.

It is proposed, that the JDA will construct the underground parking parallel to MI Road. The project will be one-of-its-kind in the country. At present, the biggest public multi-level parking is at Indira Gandhi Airport, New Delhi, which has a parking space for 4,300 cars.

Two JDA projects in a limbo

The Times of India
Quote:
The Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA) two proposed projects - railway over bridge (RoB) at Khirni Pathak and Durgapura elevated road - aimed at providing relief to commuters from the heavy traffic continue to hit roadblocks.

At the Khirni Pathak (RoB) site, work has been stalled as the JDA has yet to shift a temple, hampering the construction work. Moreover, the project is still waiting nod from the railway safety board to carry out construction over the tracks.

"The JDA is planning to shift the temple to nearby park on the demand of locals. However, this may invite legal troubles. We will seek advice from the empowered committee constituted by the Supreme Court. Recently, the Supreme Court has banned construction of any religious structure in facility area such as park and road among others," a senior official said.

In the meantime, commuters in the area continue to face inconveniences. Jagdish Sharma, residing in Khirni Phatak area, said, "It's a major requirement for this area. There is no other route and people often get late for their offices and schools when the gate is closed. The congestion is much more when traffic from both the sides passes rail tracks."

On the other hand, the much-delayed project, Durgapura elevated road, has also hit another roadblock. The company which was awarded the work cannot continue with digging in a small section as the Bisalpur pipeline is laid beneath the surface. The JDA has written a letter to the PHED to shift the line. An official said, "In a small section, the work is affected by the Bisalpur pine. We have asked the PHED department to shift it, otherwise it could lead to various problems in future if there is a leakage."

The Durgapura elevated road project, which costs the government Rs 104 crore, was to be completed in 18 months since its commencement on April 23, 2008. The officials said the work was interrupted due to a revised plan. "For some time, the work was interrupted as the BRTS plan was revised due to the Metro rail project," the official added.

Rajasthan Patrika
Quote:
