The Ferenc Puskás Football Academy is the best-equipped youth football centre in Hungary and was founded by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in 2007. Currently, more than one-hundred college residents from the academy teams have at their disposal five full-size grass pitches and two FIFA-approved artificial pitches. The natural grass playing areas have their own irrigation system and every pitch has floodlights too. The system of practice areas in the vicinity of the main pitches is where the youngsters can go without their coaches or teammates to practise their shots, headers, tricks and generally touch the ball more often than they may in standard training sessions. The reconstruction of the centre pitch began after the 2012 Puskás-Suzuki Cup and this will be the location for the 3,500 capacity Aranycsapat Stadion. This mini-stadium in Felcsút has been based on the designs of the worldfamous Hungarian architect Imre Makovecz (1935-2011), as was the case with the reconstruction of the mansion house building which hosts the central dormitory and another beautiful building with an organic architectural style which gives a home to the medical centre, the training hall and the management offices. In the building handed over for use in 2010 there is a kitchen, a canteen and a press department where the staff of the Hungarian edition of FourFourTwo magazine work. As well as the Puskás-Suzuki Cup fixtures there are many other matches which take place on the grass pitches, amongst which are the home fixtures of the so-far undefeated leaders of NB II’s Western division, the Puskás Academy FC, and those of Felcsút SE who are currently in first position in the Fejér county second division. In the event of adverse weather though, this year’s Puskás-Suzuki Cup matches would be played on the artificial pitches and in the future the tournament’s fixtures will be held in Felcsút’s ’jewellery box’, the Aranycsapat Stadion.

QPR’s planned Ł30m training ground delayed by legal action

The future of QPR’s planned new training ground has been thrown into turmoil by a legal challenge from west London residents.

They call Ealing council’s decision to grant planning permission for the Ł30 million complex illegal and are preparing a High Court claim.

Hanwell Community Forum this week served legal papers on the council, accusing it of “relegating residents’ green spaces”.

It says QPR’s plans for the 60-acre Warren Farm Sports site will wreck the character of the protected Metropolitan Open Land, which is London’s green belt equivalent.

The football club intended to start work on the scheme soon but now faces a delay pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

HCF said: “The council is basically giving away to a commercial organisation a valuable piece of public land that should be open to everybody.”

Ealing council leader Julian Bell said: “We will be able to show that we acted in residents’ interests.” QPR declined to comment.

Is this new or is it an old modernist construction, refurbished? Looks very good.

BTW you need to learn how to embed images from flickr with bbcodes, otherwise mods will be on your ass soon.

QPR training ground decision could face judicial review

QPR’s plans for a Ł30million new training ground remain in jeopardy as residents plan to raise up to Ł12,000 for a judicial review against Ealing Council.

Councillors voted in favour of granting planning permission for the development of a training academy and community facilities on Warren Farm.

But members of the Hanwell Community Forum say that decision is ‘illegal’, and served papers to the council.

They claim the site, which is categorised as Metropolitan Open Land (MOL), is effectively green belt, and therefore entitled to protection.

Ealing Council leader Julian Bell refuted suggestions that the site was ‘gifted’ to QPR, and insisted the decision was ‘sound and based on proper planning conditions’.

But residents say that the council has failed to prove ‘special circumstances’ in awarding the lease to QPR, and plan to begin a fundraising campaign to take the case to the High Court.

Carolyn Brown, chair of HCF, told the Times: “We believe the decision by Ealing Council is illegal, and will now be consulting with our solicitors.

“A judicial review is not something that we necessarily want, but it is clear to us that the council have acted irresponsibly.

“We want to make it clear that we are not anti-football. But this is Metropolitan Open Land space and it should be protected.

“A new training ground may be crucial for Queen’s Park Rangers but it certainly isn’t for Ealing’s tax-paying residents.”

Warren Farm Sports Centre is Ealing’s largest sports ground. It is in urgent need of investment, with Saturday and Sunday league clubs unable to use football pitches because they do not comply with the national governing body’s standards.

The site also forms part of the Brent River Park Nature Conservation Management Area.

QPR indicated that they will invest around Ł30m into the site. Protestors say the area open to the community will be reduced by two thirds, with fencing and security preventing access. They also have concerns over building heights, scale and designs.

Sporting Kansas City
Swope Park Training Center/Swope Park Soccer Village
Completed in 2007/Expanded 2013
http://www.sportingkc.com/swope-park-training-center

Home to Sporting Club and Sporting Kansas City. Has over 7,800 square feet of facility space and four soccer fields.

http://sgfsoccer.com/2012/11/15/swop...rade-targeted/

The Swope Park Training Center is beginning a massive expansion. $13.4 million is being poured into the facility and will add as many as 7 new fields and all kinds of new amenities. Should be completed by this fall in time for the Big 12 women's soccer championship. The name will be changes to "Swope Park Soccer Village" when completed. Will undoubtedly be the one of, if not the best practice facility in MLS when it is completed.

Stoke will also be extending the existing building and install an indoor training pitch:

Quote:
The first phase of the work will be the expansion of the existing building to create changing rooms, offices for coaches, medical, education and sports science staff, a treatment room, classrooms and facilities for parents as well.

As well as installing an indoor pitch, there will also be synthetic small-sided pitches and additional floodlit training areas.

hello guys. A pitch indoor for new sports center is important? Why the new sports center of Juventus does not have it and to me it seems strange.

McLaren beats rivals to Ł25m QPR training ground

McLaren Construction is believed to have won the race to build a new Ł25m training ground for Queens Park Rangers.

The Enquirer understands that McLaren was given the good news this week.

The club is hoping to start work shortly but is facing a legal challenge from local residents over the plans.

The Elite Training Facility and Community Sports Complex will be built on the Warren Farm site in Southall and is due to be ready ahead of the 2015/16 season.

The training centre will provide: grass pitches for the first team and academy, an indoor 3G pitch, an outdoor 3G artificial pitch, extensive gym, sports science and rehabilitation areas, Academy classrooms, a large number of changing rooms, media, catering and grounds maintenance facilities.

Populous is architect for the scheme.

McLaren’s win comes after its successful delivery of Tottenham Hotspur’s new Ł45m training ground in Enfield.

The contractor is also working on the first phase of Spurs’ stadium redevelopment plans.

McLaren declined to comment.

Two dryliners have been sacked after trying to hide a Portsmouth FC shirt and scarf in the walls of Southampton’s new training ground building.

Footage appeared on YouTube of a Pompey shirt being placed in a stud wall at the club’s Staplewood ground before a construction worker covers it with insulation.

Leadbitter is building a Ł2m, two-storey club building containing gymnasium, changing rooms and staff offices at the site.

The two dryliners were working for a subcontractor.

David Cook, regional director of the Leadbitter Group, told the Southern Daily Echo: “They were not direct employees of Leadbitter. They were employed by our dry-lining subcontractor.

“We understand they have been disciplined by their employer and basically sacked.

“It is not something we condone and do not agree with their behaviour at all.

“The shirt that was put into the partition was immediately removed and the actual YouTube footage was removed within 24 hours.

“It is a serious matter that has been dealt with.”

During the 47 second video clip, the Saints are described in derogatory terms.

The footage of the pranksters has sparked a backlash among Saints fans on football message boards.

Although one Saints fan quipped: “If I had a Pompey shirt, I’d want to hide it as well!”
