Oh, screw it. At least I provided the website, though. They're all there.

It's a pity there isn't already a light rail station within walking distance yet, and not for another fifteen years or so after the arena is reopened.

Speaking of which, has Sound Transit decided on the final location of the Seattle Center station?

No, they're still refining the alignment itself. It seems they're focused on the Ballard and West Seattle ends, and there's still a fight to be had about which avenue they actually put the second downtown tunnel under.

That said, assuming they can't put the station inside Seattle Center itself, I'd be highly surprised if they put it anywhere other than the north side of Harrison between Queen Ave and 1st Ave.

edit: good write up of the latest status of ST board indecision: https://seattletransitblog.com/2019/...ns-to-the-mix/

edit2: on further investigation, the preferred alternative is "a Seattle Center station under Republican Street near 1st Avenue N." I assume they'll take the Dicks on Republican and QA for a staging area and just excavate the street out.

Let's hope they follow through.

There's still the monorail, though, so that's something:

I wonder if the monorail would extend hours to catch riders after games and shows. Would be pretty nice to be able to hop on the monorail down to Westlake, then get back home from there on the train.

That's going to end up being its main use once the arena opens. Would be silly to do the upgrades they're doing and then NOT have it open for after events.

What upgrades has the Seattle Monorail been doing? I checked their website, and there are no ongoing projects. Or are you referring to their work to enable passengers to pay their fares with their ORCA cards?

Orca Cards is one.

They've also been planning upgrades for both stations: https://www.seattlemonorail.com/wp-c...-PUBLISHED.pdf

But as far as I know, no work has been done on these yet. But we have exactly 2 years before the arena starts hosting regular events. Hopefully they get off their arse before then.

Interesting -so in addition to upgrading the existing stations at Westlake Center and the Seattle Center, they are considering adding a station at Belltown at the intersection of Bell Street and 5th Avenue.

And then there's this little paragraph:

Quote:
The station would add 4-6 minutes to round trip time, reducing the system’s post-event capacity to move passengers out of Seattle Center Station by half. Considering this, the station should be implemented in 2035 when the Link Light Rail ST3 line with a stop near Seattle Center can make up for the lost capacity.

As far as I’ve seen, they’ve generally been doing that. When I get out of operas or plays that let out late at 11pm or so, there have often been monorails running until midnight to pick up showgoers. Good to know that someone at the company is keeping track of Center events.

Is Key Bank paying for the continued advertising? Doesn't matter to me but I'm curious if anyone knows.

The naming rights deal expired back in 2011, but the city just didn't want to spend the money to rebrand the arena. Will still sortof be "Key Arena" until they announce the new naming rights partner.
