Boeing 727, DC-10, L-1011, MD-11, TU-154, Yak-40, and Yak-42 | The Trijet Fan Thread

I know that KLM is still flying DC-10s, but are any other (non-cargo) airlines in the world still flying them or regular scheduled services ---- or L-1011s?

Got photos?

Good point, I should have been clearer: What I meant was DC10 and L1011 families of aircraft (such as the MD11).

A total of 5 Lockheed L-1011s were in commercial service in March 2010 with operators Elite Aviation (1), EuroAtlantic Airways (1), Orbital Sciences Corporation (1), Sky Capital (1), and SAM Intercontinental (1).[51] The Royal Air Force operates nine L-1011 aircraft.[51]

It's sad no more new trijets are being developed.

FedEx MD-11 bearing Special Panda Livery

Hi,

We were airside at DEL airport over the last weekend for 3 days. There was a FedEx MD11 with the Special Panda livery applied on it.

Here is my shot of the aircraft with the Panda decals applied. Click the thumbnail to view the high resolution of the shot.

Overtaking a Lufthansa Cargo MD11!!!

Quote:
Description

Crossing the North Atlantic on NAT tracks has aircraft in the same direction separated by 1000' instead of the usual 2000' which makes for some great views. We were at Flight Level 310 and travelling at mach 0.84 only about 10-15kts faster than the MD11 which I guess was flying at 0.82. Unfortunately they didn't have cameras.

My second favorite plane after the MD-80. Flew on a KLM MD-11 back in 1994 from AMS-LOS. Great flight.
