Kickin' architecture! However, Jaipur could aslo use a couple of small (150m-200m) skyscrapers in the CBD. As it is a small city (by Indian standards), a small skyline of 15-20 buildings of 150-200m will suffice-as long as an urgan freeway system is built.

Jaipur looks like it is finally getting a makeover!!. Great projects.
I agree with Naa Solidus. Jaipur is the ideal city to build some 150-200 ones. It has virtually no pollution and is far less congested than even Baroda. It will boost the economy of the city. Rajasthan needs an image makeover. FAST

Jaipur centre to house hotels, golf course

The Rajasthan government is planning to establish a Rs 300-crore international convention centre near here.

"The centre will be developed on 125 acres of land, which has been identified by the Jaipur Devlopment Authority (JDA) in the Dehmikala area of Bagru, about 32 km from the city," a JDA spokesperson said.

As per plans, the new auditorium will be developed like those of Mumbai, which would have a capacity to accommodate over 2,000 people. The construction will be undertaken by the Rajasthan tourism department.

However, the final project of the convention centre will be prepared by the tourism department, on the basis of which the department will also take the help of the private sector for coming up with the convention centre.

The project also involves the construction of a deluxe hotel and two other hotels. Sources said a golf course would come up, and for that the JDA has identified 60 acres.

Panscheel to develop multi-million township

Panscheel Colonisers Pvt Ltd, a reputed real estate firm of Jaipur, is entering into township development in a big way. The firm is a well-established group in this field for many years and has to its name many prestigious projects all over the state.

Having completed over 30 various commercial and residential projects the company now plans to come out with an exclusive multi-million township scheme, Panscheel Park, on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway.

“Panscheel Park is a unique and an exclusive scheme in itself. With 10,000 residential plots, the scheme has features like shopping malls, a cricket academy, schools, five star hotel and hospitals,” said Anil Kuchhal, director Panscheel Colonisers Pvt Ltd. Mini India is another innovative concept devised by the company to develop a small tourist destination in the township scheme.

“Mini India as the name suggests will be a unique theme park spread over 50 acres to offer a glimpse of various parts of India like monuments people, attire, culture and cuisine,” Kucchal said, adding that the beautifully landscaped theme park will be a prime attraction for tourists visiting the state.

The project also involves setting up of an exclusive golf academy with 18 hole golf course in collaboration with Bagga’s Golf Management Group. The golf course would be the biggest golf course in the state.

An exclusive cricket academy and swimming pool will add to the sporting features of the project.

“Food courts, shopping malls and six screen multiplex, swimming pool, restaurants and numerous indoor and outdoor games will add spice to the lifestyle of the residents,” he added.

Another striking feature of the project will be a luxurious international resort hotel, which is being set up in collaboration with Tivoli Garden Resort Hotel.

This 200 rooms luxurious hotel will be an ultimate destination for both lifestyle and business events.

Suncity launches Rs 400 cr township in Jaipur

Suncity Projects, fore-runners in the development of commercial and residential projects, has announced the launch of its Rs 400 crore integrated residential township in Jaipur. "Suncity" is located on the Jaipur-Sikar Road, just off National Highway XI.

Spread over 400 acres, "Suncity" is offering plots in varying sizes, of 160, 200, 250, 300, 400, and 500 square yards. It will have clubs, golf courses, sports complexes, gymnasiums, mall-cum-multiplexes, commercial complexes, swimming pools, primary and secondary schools, hospitals, a transport system, and banking facilities.

The township will have a waste management system, a security net to match global norms, and 24-hour power and water supply. With a total investment of Rs 400 crore, the township would be completed by 2008, Bansal added.

He said next month the group would launch a shopping complex, Triton mega mall, at Kalwad Road, near the Bani Park area of Jaipur, covering 450,000 square feet, plus a 250,000 square feet basement for parking and services.

The mall will house more than 100 top luxury brands, international food chains, restaurants, etc. The group is also planning a commercial development of 2.1 million square feet at JLN Marg in Jaipur.

The company combines the expertise of the Essel group, the Action Group and Odeon Builders. It has built Suncity and Essel Towers, a multi-storeyed group housing society in Gurgaon.

The group is also working on 24 projects, in various stages. Suncity Projects plans to invest Rs 15,000 crore over the next three years in these projects.

The major projects being planned and executed include townships in Rohtak, Gurgaon, Rewari, Indore, and Kaithal; shopping malls in Delhi and Mohali; India's largest amusement park in Greater Noida; and high-tech cities in Ghaziabad and Mathura. The group is also foraying into hospitality with three five-star hotels in different parts of the country.

Era group launches Rs 150 cr housing project

The Era group has launched the first housing project, coming up in Jaipur. The project, of Rs 150 crore, is being developed on over 5 acres.

It is being developed by Era Infrastructure (India) Ltd, the real estate venture of the Era group.

Era Aster Court, a residential complex, will be located close to multiplexes, shopping complexes, schools, and medical facilities, and has apartments designed by renowned architects, Arcop and Associates.

The landscaping in the complex will be done by leading landscape architect Paul Freedberg. Era Infrastructure (India) Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Vikrant Singh said: "Era Aster Court is appropriate for someone who wants to upgrade his living from the current tight conditions prevailing in Jaipur. It has a club, recreational facilities, a swimming pool, multi-purpose sports facilities and jogging tracks.�

The complex has a controlled and monitored security system.

Era Infrastructure (India) has many projects coming up in Agra, Meerut, Faridabad, Palwal, Bahadurgarh, Bangalore, Indore, Mandi Gobindgarh, Pune, Allahabad, Sirsa, Ajmer, Udaipur, Greater Noida, etc.

Most of these projects will start this year. The company currently has projects worth more than Rs 5,000 crore in the pipeline.

Bharat Hotels plans to invest Rs 150 crore in Jaipur

Bharat Hotels will set up a Rs 150 crore luxury hotel in the tourist hot-spot desert state of Rajasthan, a top company official said.

The proposed 200-room hotel will be situated on 12,000 square metres land in Jaipur, and is expected to be up and running in 18 months, Lalit Suri, chairman of Bharat Hotels, said on the sidelines of a tourism industry conference.

Bharat Hotels bought the plot for the hotel on Friday from the Rajasthan government at the reserve price of Rs 26 crore which under a new government policy to attract hoteliers in the room-starved state was pegged at half the current commercial land rate.

Mahima project in Jaipur

Jaipur-based Mahima Group last week launched ‘Iris’, the biggest housing project in Jaipur.

“The Rs 100-crore project is coming up at Swage Farm on New Sanganer Road, hardly 2.5 km from the railway station and 3 km from the main Sindhi Camp bus stand,” said Dhirendra Madan, chairman-cum-managing director of the Mahima group.

The project comprises around 338 flats, built in an area of 20,000 square yards, of which 65 per cent of the region will be open. Madan said, “The eight towers stand independently of each other, making the flats open from all directions.”

The landscaping has been done by a consultant from Singapore.

5-star deluxe hotel inaugurated in Jaipur

Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat recently inaugurated the Shiv Vilas, a luxury 5-star deluxe hotel, situated on the outskirts of Jaipur, at Kukas, on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway.

While inaugurating the resort, Shekhawat said such a property would lure tourists visiting Pink City, as Rajasthan was becoming a hub for tourists. A 96-room luxury property, the Shiv Vilas has gardens with recreational and business facilities.

The Shiv Palace has a lobby offering 16 “grand suites”, seven “elite suites” and 73 rooms. Shiv Bihari Sharma, managing director of the Shiv Vilas, said, “The hotel recreates the history of Pink City, which is famous for palaces, forts and havelis.”

The resort has a well-equipped health club and spa with a state-of-the-art fitness centre, professionally managed beauty saloon, outdoor swimming pools for adults and children along with indoor and outdoor whirlpools.

Rooms and suites are well equipped with digital televisions and a broadband Wi-Fi Internet system.

Omaxe City coming up in Jaipur

Omaxe Ltd is setting up in Jaipur "Omaxe City", an integrated township.

The project has been proposed to come up in 500 acres at the Ajmer Express Highway, which offers 800 square yards and 1,000 square yards of luxurious and expandable villas, respectively. About 25 acres of a group housing complex will comprise more than 1,500 exclusively designed apartments.

On Omaxe City, a company official said: "Jaipur is a fast-growing metropolitan cities in the country. The growth is being fuelled by expanding employment opportunities. The biggest advantage of Jaipur as compared to other cities is its excellent road connectivity with Delhi. Jaipur is being viewed as a serious alternative to Gurgaon. We have completed the township-planning with demarcated group housing, villas, commercials, shopping complexes, hotels, schools, dispensaries, entertainment zones, etc.”

Jaipur set to attract global filmmakers

Jaipur is all set to become a major attraction to film-makers from all over the globe with leading international film production companies showing keen interest in setting up shop in a Rs 30-crore film-city project coming up in the outskirts of the Pink City.

Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), which is the nodal agency for the development of the project, has received several proposals, including one from Australia’s Warner Roadshow Studios. The city, which is to come up on 1,000 acres of land in the Jamdoli area, will have all the facilities needed for international standard film production.

Warner Roadshow Studios, and Los Angeles-based Kundalini Pictures LLC, have had discussions with state government officials, and are likely to finalise their projects shortly. Road Productions, another company with partners in Mumbai and Los Angeles, have also submitted their proposals.

“A majority of these companies have proposed to complete the film city project in three phases with a total proposed cost of about Rs 1900 crore,” said JDA officials.

A special delegation of JDA officials was earlier sent to Mumbai to discuss the project with Bollywood filmmakers, but nothing concrete emerged. The project got a boost when several producers and directors from the US and Australia discussed the project with JDA commissioner recently.

Infosys Technologies is planning to invest about Rs 400 crore in setting up two facilities, one for BPO operations and the other for IT services, both at the Mahindra SEZ in Jaipur.

At present, the IT major operates a BPO facility at Sitapura in Jaipur which will be officially inaugurated tomorrow.

Infosys has informed that in addition to the existing Infosys BPO facility, the company is planning two significant investments in Jaipur over the next three-five years.

These include an investment of Rs 90-150 crore to develop a BPO facility, which will accommodate 3,000-5,000 employees and Rs 100-250 crore to develop a facility to accommodate 2,000-5,000 employees in IT services.

"Infosys is excited about partnering with the government to expand its presence in Rajasthan," said Mohandas Pai, chairman, Infosys BPO and Member of the Board, Infosys Technologies.

"The Infosys BPO facility at Sitapura demonstrates our commitment to Rajasthan, and the additional investments will enhance that commitment and firmly establish Jaipur as a significant center for Infosys," he said.

The unit at Sitapura has a built-up area of over 68,000 sq ft with an investment of Rs 20 crore and is capable of accommodating 900 people. The facility has been in operation since August 2006.

It houses about 125 professionals. Jaipur is Infosys BPO's first significant expansion in the north India. "Jaipur enables us to offer our customers an additional delivery location in India in addition to our operations in Bangalore and Pune," said Amitabh Chaudhry, CEO and MID, Infosys BPO.

Wipro too plans centre in Jaipur SEZ

A day after Infosys announced its Rs 400 crore investment in Mahindra World City, Jaipur, Wipro Technologies too has unveiled a proposal to set up a campus in the project.

According to a statement from Wipro, it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for 100 acres of land in the SEZ. Mahindra World City is slated to be a state-of-the-art fully integrated business city.

The global IT services division of Wipro said its centre would come up in two phases. The first phase will cover 25 acres which will have over 1 lakh square feet of built-up area and house over 1,000 employees.

Arun Nanda, executive director - Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "I am delighted to welcome Wipro as one of our anchor clients in Mahindra World City. With proven capabilities of offering world class, state-of-the-art facilities for business retail, leisure, hospitality and residential housing, Mahindra World City will prove to be the ideal venue for Wipro's regional aspirations."

Mahindras set to start work on World City

The Mahindra group is set to begin work on an ambitious World City here, in step with its promise of providing cutting-edge business facilities in the state.

Called the Mahindra World City, a joint venture between Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd and the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO), is being developed as a multi-product special economic zone.

Phase-1 of the project will involve construction of an IT and ITES SEZ spread over 188 acres. The company also plans to develop a technology park within the IT SEZ, which will offer built-up space to sector-specific players.

IT majors Infosys and Wipro have already agreed to develop campuses in the World City. Besides, several leading IT and ITES companies are also keen on setting up shop in the proposed SEZ. Formal agreements are likely to be signed soon.

Jurong of Singapore is the main planner of the project. With the proposed entry of leading IT companies in the World City, Rajasthan is poised to become a major infotech hub.

According to recent surveys, several IT and ITES companies are looking to establish operations in tier-II cities like Jaipur, to reduce costs and tap local manpower.

After completion, the SEZ is expected to generate direct employment for over 1 lakh people and investment of over Rs 10,000-crore.

Apart from information technology, the SEZ will also offer facilities for industries from various sectors, including manufacturing, handicrafts, apparel and textiles, and gems and jewellery.

The group plans to develop world-class warehousing and logistics zones within the proposed SEZ to make Jaipur a logistics hub of northern India.
