Park Regis Proudly serving Starbucks Coffee. Saw this near Islington Row Middleway / Tennant Street.

What's happening to this corner?

Now that Rofuto has packed their bags and moved out, it's time for Tang Interiors to fit out something else on level 16!

Says Conference and Events on the side of the building, a shame another restaurant couldn't move in.

Kind of defeats the point in the extension on top.

All the pumping of this restaurant by The Birmingham Post before this opened and months afterwards, with random stories and references to it, I was beginning to wonder if the Editor was on some sort of commission!

Didn't work ..... because no-one reads The Birmingham Post anymore.

We try and read the Birmingham Post, but proves to be impossible without answering a survey!

I buy The Birmingham Post every week and read it cover to cover - I'm probably one of about twelve, I know...

We're lucky to still have a quality print title bearing our name. Long may it continue!

When the restaurant closed they said it would become an events space. The temporary Tang decals are a bit of overkill though. Could have saved themselves a bit of money there...

Park Regis took the space themselves.

Quote:
Park Regis has announced plans to revamp the old Rofuto on the hotel's 16th floor to create a new £650,000, 1,250 sq ft conference centre capable of accommodating up to 240 delegates.

The hotel's 15th floor, where its existing conference facilities are, will be renovated to create additional meeting rooms, break-out areas and a bar.

In total, the four-star Park Regis will be able to accommodate 450 conference delegates across the two floors.

It was, sort of, you could just go for a drink in Rufuto, however nobody did so they ended up closing down. I'd imagine things will pick up again once St Martins Place opens up.

I went to Rufoto a couple of times and it was awesome and "busy". I don't think they gave it enough time.
You've got Bank 1 and 2 to come, The Mercian, St Martins Place, Arden Gate, Sherborne Wharf and Lansdowne House all within a couple of minutes from here.
If they'd have held out a bit longer I'm sure it would have been a real success story, really hope in the future they revisit the idea.

Rofuto never made any money. Simple as. Owners closed it to turn it into a conference space, which does make money. The rooms on level 14 were never really large enough, you couldn't get a decent projector screen or lights up ad the ceilings were so low, level 14 by itself never worked. Event on level 15 quite often.

Rufuto was owned by Harj Mattu, he also owns Park Regis hotel as well as Colmore Tang group. He also owns a few Holiday Inn Express and also Nitenite, and also many developments by Seven Capital. He also owns Landsdowne House, an odd one as it was not built by Colmore Tang.
