Nope.Actually there is need for more. There is high traffic into the malls even causing jams outside the mall.I think Ngong Road has the highest number of malls.Mombasa Road,Thika Road could do with more

Interesting.....
How many malls do we have in Nairobi now...50???
May be it is true the saying 'any publicity is good publicity'.
Westgate tragedy may have opened eyes to investors around the world.
They went .."Holy craxxx, they have Malls in Africa? "

Now they are coming in droves with all kinds of crazy ideas. Some will survive and some will die.

I can attest to that
People were surprised that we have malls in Africa!!

Yaap, most of the western world still looks at Africa from a certain Lens. That is why most will be late coming to this mega infrastructure craze/party happening in Africa at the moment.

The Chinese know what a goldmine this is. I just hope the Africans take advantage and fully participate in baking this pie. By that I mean investment-wise. Don't just let the rest of the world come in and siphon our wealth.

So while they are still saying, "they got malls in Kenya??"
Lets Build our own shoe factories, electronic factories, car manufacturing etc.
By the time they wake up, they will just be our consumers...

Nakumatt will be anchor at this mall.

Quote:
Kenya’s biggest retail chain will be the anchor tenants of Comesa Mall whose construction is underway.

The shopping complex, set on a six-acre land, will have four floors measuring 120,000 square feet and a basement parking.

Nakumatt will occupy two floors measuring 40,000 square feet, according to a memorandum of understanding reached with the project managers who, however, said they are yet to sign a final deal.

“Ten banks have expressed interest in leasing space in the mall so far and this is because of the huge amounts of money that is exchanged in Eastleigh every day,” said George Muhandi, an architect with Imperial Concepts Company.

It is estimated that the shopping arcade will cost the developers, Darasa Investment Limited, Sh3 billion and create hundreds of jobs.

The mall has also attracted interests of food joints and coffee outlets that are seeking a piece of the multi-billion shilling Eastleigh business pie.

“It seems that every bank wants a slice of the money made in Eastleigh,” added Mr Muhandi.

The entire world sleeps on the development of Africa, not just the west. You'll find the same response whether you're in Indiana or Incheon. The west (Germany, UK, USA etc) is still the largest source of fdi coming into Africa, and is involved many large projects on the continent.

Surprised that Eastleigh can attract such huge investment despite the rampant insecurity in the area. There was talk of many businesses there shutting down sometime last year as a result now even Nakumatt is in!! The return on investments must be worth the risk.

I was actually surprised there was no mall in Eastleigh. The human traffic in the area esp Garissa Lodge is high plus there are booming businesses in the area esp clothes business.Saying security is bad in Eastleigh is like saying tourists should not come to Kenya because of insecurity. There were incidents but it is generally safe
