Cheers UV - from that angle looking towards the Arcadian, how much taller Latitude could have been built, because of how much higher the crane is. I do prefer 7-8 storeys to 4-5.

I can't find any recent pictures of Leeds' skyline. It looks pretty impressive approaching from the M1 from Brum.

Calm down buddy, its an inside joke. I was well impressed with Leeds when I visited Yorkshire earlier in the year. I hadn't been since before I was interested in buildings and I liked it a lot.

I'm only angry when I do this: ""

I'm glad you enjoyed Leeds. It's frustrating how SCC judges Leeds by the dull and gloomy pictures of the city on the Internet. I might have to go and take some better ones/skyline shots once Leeds' new trio of skyscrapers are all completed. I'll look forward to visiting Birmingham over Christmas

Good I'll look forward to some fresh ones. Despite Leeds having the mouthiest forummers there doesn't seem to be a lot of photographers.

Leeds only has one mouth to be honest. That's why he's known to be pretty mouthy. There are a few of us that are construction update photographers, but no photographer photographers like there are in Liverpool and London...

Bloody Northerners!

Birmingham and Manchester have an army of mouths to defend their cities so it's a shame that our lone Yorkshire mouth talks to deaf ears when he suggests that Leeds could infact, maybe, compete with Brum and Manc in some areas.

I'm annoyed that Leeds doesn't promote itself at all and sets itself stupidly low goals like the new city centre 25 year masterplan which only really includes repaving a few streets.

I totally agree. Leeds is that classic example of getting everything arse about face ...... no conference or exhibition facilities / no decent classical concert hall / no multi-purpose indoor arena (yet) / was given a tourist destination on a plate (The Royal Armouries) & cocked it up big time / no major modern shopping mall (yet)

...... Leeds has lived for too long with the "Knightsbridge of the North" accolade, & the problem is, at least half a dozen British cities have not only caught up with Leeds in the shopping stakes, but left it standing years ago, & it has nothing left to offer over any other big city ..... And I only hope the two big shopping developments in Leeds don't go the same way as Lumiere .... strange times we are in at the moment, anything could happen!

Sounds like Leeds is getting ready to join the big league - the infrastructure is going into place and last time I was there (this summer) I noticed quite a lot of post-industrial land looking ripe for development

When my parents came to visit Leeds they wanted to know what cities it was similar to so I told them "Bristol or Cardiff". I didn't want to say "Birmingham" because it just hasn't got that big city feel that Brum has when you're walking down Broad Street. If Leeds gets it's arena and Lumiere towers built before I finish uni I'll think of it as more of a Birmingham.

We need to finish our shopping centres and get a Premiership football team for the place to feel like a proper city. Sometimes I can walk a whole lap of the city centre without seeing any crime or being mugged. Something's wrong, clearly.
