One of the proposals is to eliminate all weekend service on the New Canaan Branch, Danbury Branch, Waterbury Branch and Shore Line East (New Haven-New London). Currently, all rail service in Connecticut operates seven days per week.

The revised schedules have been released, and it's not pretty. Not just weekend service, but all off-peak service on the branches will be eliminated.

State officials also say they haven’t yet resolved ticketing issues and locomotive repair delays with Amtrak, which is now operating rail service between Springfield and New Haven.

A state Department of Transportation spokesman declined to say this week if the new rail service between New Haven, Hartford and Springfield would actually start in May as DOT officials have been promising. DOT spokesman Judd Everhart said the official start date will be announced by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on April 19.

Connecticut Commuter Rail Council officials were told unofficially last month the tentative start date was May 21.

What's the point of having public transit again? It looks like there are basically no more buses in Bridgeport anymore. You can ride a train on the 31st day of months that start with the letter J when the moon is a "waxing gibbous" phase. Here you go, enjoy your new train card from when Michael Jackson was alive and still black.

CT has really high taxes too. I mean, is the state capitol boiler heated by burning the money?

It has to do with how Connecticut is politically structured, because most of the high earners work out of state in either NY or Boston there is minimal income tax, also the state is mostly suburban meaning property taxes fund everything so state officials are willing to cut urban services to avoid pissing off suburban lawmakers

Plans are afoot for a huge new parking garage at Stamford railway station. With a big sign that says "Stamford."

At Stamford station this month, construction will begin on a new platform (Track 7), which will serve the New Canaan Branch. Currently New Canaan trains leave from track 5, but this is not a dedicated track as it is also used by inbound commuter trains (to Grand Central).

Our #WhatsOldIsNewAgain exhibit explores a selection of transit treasures that the #NYTransitMuseum acquired over the last decade, including this MTA Metro-North Uniticket Poster from the 1990s. The poster was acquired by the Transit Museum in 2014, along with more than 700 other marketing posters comprising 30 years’ worth of service advertisements, tour and travel posters, and safety notices. These examples of customer information serve as historical reference points for Metro-North’s marketing efforts, brand development, and the relationship it cultivated with its customers.
