Indian restaurant immortalised in Viz gets makeover as part of Bigg Market revamp

Koh-I-Noor was immortalised in the adult comic Viz in the 1980s and even starred in the Viz film

The construction work, which starts this week, will see the existing shop front fascia removed and taken back to structural openings before the eventual installation of a traditional shop front "befitting the building’s history and heritage".

It will include the reinstatement of stall risers, the introduction of carved pilasters, decorative consoles, full height arched windows and new signage.

So much better, hopefully they'll get rid of the green sign too.

Hopefully they will keep at it with the Bigg Market, it's definitely looking better these days. Just a shame about Cathedral Square, but that's already been done to death on here!

As said, Cathedral Square etc. comments have been done to death; but maybe rendering all of the maroon brick like they've done on Cuba would at least brighten the area up.

With regards to the Koh-I-Noor, great improvement. Wish they'd hurry up with the Bar24 to Balmbras redevelopment.
