To answer my own question

Quote:
HondaJet was the most-delivered aircraft in the light-jet category in 2018 for the second year in a row, though shipments dropped to 37 units from 43 in 2017, resulting in a business deficit, Honda Motor Co. said Feb. 21.

^ wow thats a pretty sweet design, I especially like the tail part

some more Space jet news (In Japanese) but here is an English summary
https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=2...switch-bus_all

the 88 seat MRJ 90 will be rebranded as the Space jet M90
76 seat MRJ 70 will be Space Jet M100

doesn't make much sense. The name Space Jet nor the numbering system. 70 seater becoming 100?

but they believe the M100 will be the most popular variant in the US market.

Very interesting move. Does that mean Bombardier is slowly divesting away from the aerospace business and will focus instead on trains? Or is there another side of the story that I'm missing? Either way, handing off the CRJ program to Mitsubishi Industries is a step forward towards integrating the best of Canadian aviation (CRJ-200, -700, -900, and -1000) with Japanese technical knowhow and expertise. Perhaps this might be necessary to boost Mitsubishi's image as a regional aircraft giant and compete against Embraer better.

They are now completely out of the commercial aircraft market (they also recently sold the Dash-8 to a newly formed company called De Havilland Canada).

But they will focus on business jets.

Looks like Bombardier wants to focus simply on the business and private jet market, in which it is gaining tons of VIP customers. It is a shame though that Bombardier has had to cut most of its passenger aircraft divisions and either be sold off (to Airbus and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) or form another company (De Havilland Canada), especially those have helped Canadian aviation immensely. That would ultimately mean those aircraft will have either European or Japanese strains integrated in them in the not so distant future.

Mitsubishi lands preliminary order for 100 SpaceJet M100s

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation has entered negotiations with Mesa Air Group, the parent company of U.S. regional carrier Mesa Airlines, for a sale of up to a 100 SpaceJet M100 aircraft.

In particular, the two companies have entered formal purchase negotiations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which targets 50 firm orders and options for 50 more, with deliveries to begin in 2024, Mitsubishi announced on September 5, 2019.

The SpaceJet M100 is the newer and smaller airliner in Mitsubishi SpaceJet aircraft family, officially announced on June 13, 2019. The airline has “evolved from a concept study” of what was previously dubbed the MRJ70. The jet is “perfectly matched to the United States and global markets alike,” the manufacturer said back then. In particular, it is specially targeted to meet scope clause restrictions in the United States.

Another aircraft in the family, SpaceJet M90, previously known by its production name MRJ90, is currently undergoing flight tests, which began in early March 2019. The regional jet has been in development since 2008 and was scheduled for first delivery in 2013. Now, the first deliveries for the launch customer All Nippon Airways are expected in 2020.

Trans States Holdings cancels Mitsubishi SpaceJet M90 order

Quote:
Mitsubishi and Trans States Holdings have announced that the parties cancelled the contract for up to 100 Mitsubishi SpaceJet M90 aircraft. The agreement, which was finalized in 2011, included 50 firm orders with 50 options.

Trans States Holdings owns the three US regional airlines Compass Airlines, GoJet Airlines and Trans States Airlines. The carriers operate Bombardier and Embraer regional aircraft on flights for Delta Connection, American Eagle and United Express.

Hisakazu Mizutani, Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation President, commented on the order cancellation: “When we established our contract with [Trans States Holdings], the outlook on the regional market was very different. Scope clause has not relaxed as anticipated.” Both parties came to the conclusion, that the SpaceJet M90 variant does not meet the requirements of the United States market. Instead, the aircraft manufacturer announced that it will begin discussions regarding a potential order for the SpaceJet M100.

Toyota to use HondaJet for executive transport

Quote:
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Toyota Motor Corp. will start using a business jet from its rival Honda Motor Co.'s U.S. aviation unit as means of transportation for its executives, corporate sources said Tuesday.

The plan to use the HondaJet Elite from next spring may draw attention as the two Japanese automakers are rivals in the global market and the development of new technologies.

"We don't make planes and it means that we buy good stuff (even if it's from a rival company," said a Toyota executive, who declined to be named.

I mean, as far as I know Toyota doesn't make planes so I don't know what the big deal is. Get the product of best value.
