New Mogadishu | City Gallery

This topic's purpose is to showcase the Somali middle finger, which is repeatedly put up by the Mogadishans in front of the faces of those that seek to hold them back in the name of ideology or prophecies of supposed terror. This topic is dedicated to new developments and the regeneration of parts of this ancient metropolis by hardworking and peace loving Somali men and women. This topic is no place for nostalgia such as "it used to be the Pearl of the Indian Ocean", no place for politics, and no place for images depicting civil strife, this is exclusively a platform to highlight the resilience of the average Mogadishan, which is commonly overlooked.

Mogadishu University

Quote:
Mogadishu University is one of the greatest achievements of the people of Somalia during the civil war. Its vision is to be the premier non-state university in Somalia dedicated to providing affordable and accessible high quality education. There are thousands of students who are perusing their studies in 29 different departments. Graduates of the university work in the public and private sectors in all over Somalia . Some graduates received MA and PhD degrees and teach and participate at the universities in reconstructing the devastated war-torn country.

Looks great! for the old buildings that were destroyed in Mogadishu, would you want them remodeled or put new structures in its place?

Most of these buildings are either Iconic, have sentimental value or are very ancient, especially the waterfront with the hotels and old fortress, so them being replaced by new/alien looking designs is highly unlikely. They will be restored to their former state. Public buildings such as the old parliament house are being regenerated as we speak.

Great thread! Can we see the pics from the old city? I definitely want the whole old city to be renovated to its past glory (Muqdisho is the region's oldest capital city)...

These are only several buildings, and it doesn't take long until they have some damages from shootings and granades, so it might be too soon to talk about renovation of the whole city.
